I really enjoyed this episode. I was baptized 1-1/2 years ago. My wife and I have been married 21 years today and our marriage was convalidated 1 year ago today. I am a pipe smoker, as well and for me it is a meditative activity and provides time to reflect. Great episode. Thanks for doing what you do. God bless

Thank you for introducing us to the good Professor Harrelson! As a poorly traveled midwestern suburban pew squatter, I really enjoyed this episode and will be sharing it far and wide. Yes, I started this on the audio feed through my iPhone podcast app and had to see this man’s person to believe his persona. I wish to meet more southern men of this ilk to distance myself from the mental image cache, programmed into our collective consciousness by modernity’s whip, with the characters of the foolish archetypes. Alan needs to go on tour! On an unrelated note, thank you for checking your audio levels before recording this episode, or if some how you didn’t, figure out what you did this time and rinse it and repeat. Best audio quality on all fronts in my memory of the show. @AlanHarrelson be assured of my families prayers in your journey homeward in the bosom of Church you will no longer need to fail to rationalize your separation from.

cool as a Catholic who was born in SC and lives in Lynchburg currently I guess I will keep my eyes out for Allen to pass through Holy Cross at some point.

Wonderful that Alan (and his wife?) is coming into The One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church! Sounds like a wonderful human being with personality, perspective, and strong capacity for reason. I look forward to learning more from Alan and from now subscribing to this GKC-oriented channel. Oh, perhaps it was just how the dynamics worked in this interview, but I kept hoping to hear a bit more from Grettelyn. I'll watch more episodes and get familiar with the style and dynamics. Well done and thank you. God Bless you all.

I think it was Chesterton who said we "fast to feast and we feast to fast". Great conversation, thank you.

Like I stated earlier in a commen that why would you go to catholicism, I was raised in Catholicism. I went to the archdiocese in my town, and I studied catechism in the Catholic church. I went to grade school, served as an alterboy, and went to seminary. Then i married my first wife, who was a southern Baptist. I had always questioned joining the Baptiste church and never getting answers to my questions . I know you don't remember, but I apologize for the comments that I made back on the pipe cottage. They were not cruel, but they were of an uneducated man. I sense now looking back towards the Catholic church. I've mentioned to my wife about Catholicism. She was a southern baptist but not practicing because of the hypocrisy in the church. Today, listening to this podcast, I got some answers to some of my questions. I think my journey is over, but in reality, it has just Begun. Thanks for sharing, Doctor Haralson.

Congratulations Professor Harrelson! I also enjoyed your interview on Pints! Thank you all for doing this... By the way (and I know I'm preaching to the choir), Chesterton's famous quote on tradition is "Tradition means giving votes to the most obscure of all classes, our ancestors. It is the democracy of the dead. Tradition refuses to submit to the small and arrogant oligarchy of those who merely happen to be walking about.”

Those who leave the Roman Catholic Church do so because they were not well catechized. Those who enter the RCC like this man do so because they are well catechized.

Many thinkers of the Medieval Period were extraordinary minds, people like Augustin, Aquinas, Venerable Bede, Boethius, Hildegard of Bingen, arguably our greatest poet of all time: Dante, whose masterpiece The Divine Comedy is a must-read for all Christians, Chaucer, Sir Thomas Malory, and Isidore of Seville to name just a few, people who were much smarter, much more pious, and much better Christians than most of us, people from whom all of us can learn an awful lot. No,no,no, the Middle Ages was not a "Dark Age" at all. It was a revelation.

I like to thank alan for helping me to decide to join the Orthodox church. I figured if he could face the battles with his family, surely a heathen like me could finally make the jump.
