Carrier Strike Group 8 - Attack on the Atlantic - US Navy - Military Strategy
During the training operation, the 7,000 crew members of the USS Harry S. Truman must do heavy physical labor. The sailors will carry out and evaluate several thousand take-offs and landings until every little detail has been trained to perfection. Because later in the battle only seconds decide about the survival of the pilots and the crew on board.

This is one of the best documentaries about aircraft carriers I've ever seen. Especially interesting is the fact that it shows us the actual workings and procedures of the ships within the carrier strike group and their positioning in the combat scenario. Also particularly interesting is the fact that the position and the role of the submarine is never shown. After all it's called the silent service..

I don't know but the carrier group is just there to protect the carrier it is rather small. In case of a war I think the U.S will add more ships for offensive work..

Because in WW2 era, all Ships are equipped with Guns along with WW2 Carrier with piston propeller planes equipped with Machine Guns, Rockets and Bombs, and Submarines, while in Modern World, Guided Missile-equipped Ships along with Missiles Submarine and Aircraft Carrier with Carrier Air Wing of Jets such as Super Hornet equiped with presition-guided Bombs, Air-to-air Missiles and 20mm cannon.

You'd be nuts to approach that in a speedboat. They're very vulnerable though, too much electronics. A satellite shot down or actual Navy attacking they'd be screwed

No Navy today capable of facing the US Carrier Strike Group in the open Sea. They are vulnerable only when close to the shore and thats why US Carrier always stay hundreds of miles from hostile shore and used ranged attack weapon with aircraft and Tomahawk missiles.

@@twohorse123 The US Blue Ocean navy's purpose is it can block ocean shipping to any country and provide airpower to places where airpower did not exist a day ago, while making sure their world wide shipping is not interfered with. No two 1st world navies will not be fighting each other, they have ICBMs for that day. But a strong navy can sure enforce a embargo or take a smaller country's air space from them in a hurry. Navys are for commerce now not National defence. ICBMs silos in Kansas and Ohio Class subs can do that part.

Fishes don't have living rooms. And the 50 cals, and any caliber doesn't have enough energy to make it to the bottom. They can only make it a few feet, before losing all their velocity due to water pressure. So they slowly sink to the bottom, but because of the pressure of the depth, they get crushed before they reach the sea bed.

now this is me just asking a question , i am not trying to offend anyone ;but as i see it . i don't understand how they pass the that test . they had three people badly injured , the ships weapon system destroyed and significant damage to the ship by the two hits . plus they didn't show the enemy ship's being hit or what happened to the solo F-18 that was trying to attack them .I'm just really confused.

It's a simulation so you're gonna have to use your imagination. Getting hit and having injured personnel doesn't necessarily mean you've failed, you have to be prepared for the worst and make sure you're sailers know to do in these situations and make sure they're doing right and fast.

It's just training. In reality the ships would not be so easilly hit or damaged. It is much harder for the enemy attacker to hit these ships in real condition. Remember these ships have very strong self-defence systems in real combat. But this is just training for the ambulance and firefighting teams, because they need to be prepared too in case something goes bad.
