I cannot stress how important basic gear is... a couple of weeks ago I saw a guy go down and he was just wearing jeans and a t shirt at about 35mph. I stopped to help him and phone emergency services, both of his arms were basically skinned, his legs were covered in gaping patches with no skin underneath and his shoulder was almost scraped to the bone. It was a horrific sight and I couldn't imagine the pain he is going to go through on his road to recovery.
@angeryanimal398
@angeryanimal398 Жыл бұрын
i got lucky on my scooter and hit a car going 30mph, skinned my right leg but i couldn't really walk well for a week cause i couldn't bend my knee and had to keep my wounds bandaged otherwise i'd get an infection. i realized how important riding gear is after that even though i got out of that crash relatively unscathed

I don't even have a motorcycle just an ebike but I'm buying safety gear since at 35mph your body doesn't care if it's a motorcycle or a bike on steroids.

Same here but actually i was the idiot that wasn’t wearing the gear. I just got into the motorcycle world and was not that cautious, the only thing I was wearing was a helmet and a t-shirt and sweatpants. And oh lord did i regret that quick, i fell at around 70kph and thankfully my head was ok but i cant say the same with the rest of my body. Please stay safe guys👍

I bought S/S shoes about five years ago. About a year after that the soles at the foot pegs were almost gone. Who knew Shoe Goo was still available. A thin coat to the bottom of a shoe and you have a hard but flexible layer of rubber-like material. I still wear those shoes because the rest of them are so good. I found the Shoe Goo at Walmart for a few dollars.

This is a great review of some casual gear. My problem is I would have to take a pair of clothes with me everyday to work. Not very commuter friendly. I understand this works for some. For me on the other hand. I need over the clothes gear that is waterproof for all situations. That would be Aerostitch. I can wear my Suit with dress shoes that stay in locker. Anyway can't wait for the other vids on this subject.

OK, now I want a cruiser. I've always seen lots of riders on cruisers in plaid shirts and jeans. I hadn't realized till now that lot's of them are actually wearing protective gear. I ride a v-strom (upright riding position) and always wear at least a textile suit with armor (tending toward hi-viz) and a white helmet, all in the interest of safety. Suddenly I want a Scout Sixty and a new wardrobe. I did not see that coming. Damn you F9!

Another excellent vid. I had barley recovered from the Dick Cheney joke when you hit me with the Canadian flannel one. I eagerly await your professional gear vid.

The jeans make me want to give a shout out to Hoods jeans. Screw two little areas with kevlar, Hoods make jeans with FULL coverage. For £129.99 without armor, or £159.99 with D3O hip and knee armor, or what I picked, £171.99 with class 2 D3O hip and knee armor. They're UK based, in case that wasn't obvious from the pricing.

Personally (as a bit of a DIY riding shoe) I wear Timberland pro's , for those not in the know those are the work boots made by Timberland, having very solid grip, nose protection and pretty solid protection up to the ankle. Biggest notable downside to them though is their weight.
