I, for the past 17 years thought that this was a fever dream I saw when I was like two. I only found the movie because I clicked on a random link in a discord someone invited me to. (bad habit, I know) But holy shit, the movie really is amazing.

Did you know Belleville is a mix of Paris, Montreal, and NYC? But agreed with basically everything you said, honestly. It's something else. And everything makes music! Chomet has made other great stuff too, and looking forward to the next ones by him from you! Have a nice safe day!

Finally. A decent video about this film. My brother showed me it in 2012, and I honestly think it changed how I see animation, and cinema in general.

This Animated Feature Is One Of My Favorites! Great Characters, Outstanding Animation, Catchy Music, and A Very Entertaining Story Make This Underrated Gem One Of The Greatest Animated Films Of All Time! I Love It!

Love this film, Bruno is a hoot! I’ve shared it with friends and family and they don’t get it, or it wasn’t their cup of tea. The opening cabaret scene pays homage to many historic entertainers, I think my friends don’t get that. They don’t know Django, Josephene, Fred Astaire and many others.

I first discovered this movie when I was very small. It was in my little dvd book. My mom still cannot recall where she found it. I have never heard anything about it on the internet until now. It had stayed in the back of my head and I haven’t seen the movie in years. My little adhd brain couldn’t wrap its head around the silence in the movie, so I couldn’t really understand what was happening, but the art style and the uniqueness of it captivated and mesmerized me. I still have that dvd, and now that I have half a head I might go watch it. Thank you so much for this video.

Most traumatic childhood memory was hurricane katrina. Family evacuated but never moved back. Literally sectioned off my life like a comic book arc. Anyway Triplets is literally my favorite animated movie. Such a classic

This movie is weird but intriguing; it has good music and animation, likable characters, a fun story. I love it :D It deserved more attention and love... like Treasure planet, Song of the Sea and Rise of the Guardians! I'm excited to watch the sequel, the director made another movie and i didn't saw it yet! My most traumatic childhood memory is when i pissed myself in elementary school; i was in fifth grade. I asked several times the teacher if i could go to the bathroom, she never answer me then it was too late! I wet my pants, the chair AND the floor. A puddle of my pee was on it! Everyone laughed at me and no one helped me to clean it, I HAD TO DO IT! I was nine, it was one of the worst days of my life ;(

This is a very good review/analysis of a truly charming movie, and mirrors my own opinion almost completely. I'll add 1 element, _character arc._ Not in the role of any players in the film, but the character arc _of the viewer._ Because this movie is _visceral._ The viewer is invested and involved, a character that is helpless other than to wish and hope. When it's over you realize you land where your arc started, flat but strangely full, wondering what exactly what you had just witnessed.

I *_LOVE_* this movie! The whole school all huddled up in one classroom to watch this amazing yet weird movie, man, I'll never forget hearing one of the teachers laughing so hard at some of the obscure scenes. I had to rent the movie again the same week. I don't know why but I *really love* the depressing jazzy music that plays during some of the scenes for some reason.

I know this is quite late, a full two years after the video was posted! but it just stumbled on my feed and I was hooked! When I started liking animation for real dad wanted to broaden my horizons so I didn't just stay on the anime side of things, or simple cartoon and the "standard" animation pieces, so, my oldest cousins introduced me to Princess Mononoke and battle angel alita (the ova), and my dad brought this one! I was blown away by the detail and I found myself engulfed by the movie, the movements that were so weird and surreal, so enticing and traumatizing at the same time, how the music took you by the throat an took you along for the travel. Even the world, in a delicate balance between realism and dystopia, of something otherworldy, made me fell in love!

I saw this movie listed on Turner Classic Movies for February 19, 2024, and set the DVR accordingly. It was...different, very FRENCH, with such muted colors that I thought it was Monochrome for a while. Without any spoken lines, and no English subtitles, I wondered if this was a "Monsieur Hulot" project. What got me was when we finally arrived in Belleville. A "statue of libertines" was as round as Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, as were the residents. The "French Mafia" rode around in variations of the Citroen 2CV, even a stretch limousine version! I had my doubts about this animated feature, but it's as interesting as the elderly "triplets," who somehow had access to German "Potato Masher" grenades!

I just watched this for the very first time and wondered where this has been hidden away. I have never ever seen such a great cartoon type film that was done so well. The graphic detail of the artwork is enough to make it Oscar worthy. I recommend it to everyone.

Can't deny that the character designs are downright hideous, very stylistic of the early-to-mid 90s, especially The Brothers Grunt. It was not intended for children, but the kids who did watch it were.creeped out & had nightmares. The lack of dialogue makes the story about as cohesive as Skibidi Toilet, where you either have to watch it a hundred times & pay attention to even the most minor detail in the background, or have someone who can do that explain it to you.

Sniffs, sniffs, KZfaq has already taken down the one with english sub 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 (even though I already watched the one without on Utube). But anyway, I do like the film.....besides kinda creeps out with the body proportion structures.....probably the creator likes the kind of those drawings (though I'm not if I should call that inspire by caricature styles or whatsoever). The ending though is actually want confused me more since I don't know what's it supposed to mean. But I can assure that you get some funny & cool scenes of actions on this film (even though it's not trying to grand like epic journey with mythical fantasy lores or such, which of course this film is more close enough to of slice of life......and some surreal from the characters (design.....).

What an interesting choice for a narration voice! The closest thing it reminds me of is when the Wizard is presenting the diploma, clock and medal to Dorothy's friends. That style, or maybe Evan Peters' character Mr. March in AHS: Hotel. It's a touch of grandeur. My only regret about this video is when you drop the f bomb; that's always a signal to me to be tempted to dismiss whoever is speaking as just an overgrown frat boy who has trouble expressing himself verbally. I know, it's probably wrong of me to feel that way but I can't help it. Nice to see love for this animated gem. I was listening to the song recently (both English and French versions) on KZfaq. Love how he says "Acapuuuuulco" and "Honoluuuuulu". That tune always makes the listener want to start dancing.
