Understanding where Android applications consume memory is important for performance and usability on low-memory devices. Are .so files that are not for given abi loaded aswell somehow? I.e. should I use apk splits if im memory aware, if my overall apk size isnt too big?

No. Even 4gb is low level now. Only iOS guys are brainwashed and think they can get away with less because their gods are telling them. But never try to use multiple iPad apps at the same time. And with Android Dex its the same.
