Great work my friend . . . I needed reminding of the fundamentals which I was never actually taught since i'm an artist not a tech - though I am trying & I'm so beat.

@@LonelyRocker I've been enjoying your videos LR - I was a video gut too and a musician as my passion same as yourself, this really reminded me to stop and think more when or when not to compress? still not perfect but its a learning curve . . Thanks again.

Great basics vid Dan you'd be surprised at how many don't understand the principles involved.

Thanks Ricky. Yes, I occasionally like to create resource videos that people can reference over time. This is one of this topics that’s confusing for beginners. Hopefully I kept it simple enough 😂

Great video! But I'm also partial to the Bigsby outtakes! :)

Thanks for the video! I do have a question. When I put a track that is already mixed and mastered in my DAW, and put a limiter on the master, why would it be triggered at all throughout the song since it is already been through the mastering stage?

My pleasure. Well a properly mastered track will still have dynamics. Poorly mastered tracks are just loud and look like a solid wave. But with good dynamics still in place, placing a limiter on the track and setting the ceiling lower than the previous master will trigger the limiter to limit to your new ceiling. Hope that helps!
