Video info:
Everlong is one of the biggest rock songs of the late 90s. Grunge died off, hard rock was making a comeback and Foo Fighters was one of the few bands to lead this music into the new millenia. It’s a love song that can make you feel both melancholic and empowered at the same time. Since Foo Fighters are back at it with another album release this february, i thought it would be a cool idea to take a closer look at one of their classics while we’re waiting. So in this video we’ll take a look at the production history, the guitars and overall sound of Everlong.

Foo fighters represent what a modern rock band should be like. They have a very wide sound that not only sounds contemporary (and appeals to a massive audience), but sounds like timeless rock that could have been written in any decade. Long live the Foo!

Funny you should mention that specific performance. I'm subscribed to several KZfaq channels for playing guitar....theory,transcriptions of songs,technique,etc.... and every time someone either has an acoustic version of Everlong or they point out some specific thing that's pretty far back in the mix on the studio recording, they always ALWAYS point to that performance as their point of reference. Therefore I'm given to understand that it's a very well loved rendition of that song.

I gotta say this is one of my favorite songs by Foo Fighters, if not my favorite songs by them, because i see it as a tribute to Kurt Cobain, their very good old friend they got their start with due to Nirvana, and i feel like it’s what really made Foo Fighters, as big as they are, and without it they probably never would have gotten out of being seen as lesser compared to the band they used to be in, plus that damn Riff, is amazing.

Heh! You brought up the soundtrack from that terrible Roland Emerich Godzilla film. That's got to be the biggest gap between how good the soundtrack compared to how bad the film it was for that I've ever seen. In fact, there was a really good Rage Against The Machine song on there called No Shelter. And they SOMEHOW worked in a lyric right at the end of the last verse in which they put down that Godzilla film. You know...the one that this song is on the soundtrack for. I can't imagine how they managed to do that, but I am endlessly entertained by the fact that they did.
