NOW it finally makes sense. I wish they would have mentioned the stretchiness before, as it's what really made it sink into my head better than "weft." Thank you!

I am not in anyway a seamstress, but am simply down a clothing fabric rabbit hole mid-online window shopping. My mind is absolutely blown by your explanation. SO interesting, so concise, and so cogent. Thank you!

Hi Melissa, It is one thing to love to teach, it is a completely different thing to know "how to" teach and you are an amazing teacher!!!! The first video that I saw only a month ago was that of a zipper pouch. How you make such challenging tasks so simple with the wonderful tips and very neat and clean job, it's absolutely amazing and very motivating. It's like you pull off that stress or insecurity inside an amateur's mind. This video is another example of how knowledgeable and passionate you are about what you do. Not only does it show, but also transmits (albeit through a video) to the viewer. Thank you!!!

I finally feel like I understand fabric grain. Thank you so much! Especially useful is the stretch test because I am frequently trying to use recycled fabric where there is no factory selvage left. I will definitely be using stretch to test grain vs cross-grain in the future.

How do you find these grain lines in remnant fabric? Or in sheets? When the selvedge is missing? This is the best tutorial! I have always wondered why you couldn't use cross grain vs grain line. The visuals of the drape were brilliant!
@Mellysews
@Mellysews 22 күн бұрын
Snip into an edge and rip the fabric. It will tear along either cross or straight grain. Once you know that direction, then stretch in the same direction and perpendicularly to determine which is straight and which is cross.
