Not all abrasives are created equally either. Diamond are sharper than SiC , SiC is sharper than Aluminum oxide, and ALOX is sharper than garnet.

THEN PLEASE EXPLAIN 3M TRIZAC LINE, grits go from 3000/5000/8000/P5000? There’s a ‘P’ right there in front of THE FINEST grit of “CAMI RATED”!?

I can't explain what I don't use. Maybe you should contact 3M.

Hey great video, I have a question, was wondering if you could help me, I have a guitar with a maple neck, I guess the maple is finished beacuse it has a shine on it and it is probably lacquered or something, I have no clue what is the finish although I would love to find out anyways I was wondering on how to go about cleaning it without damaging the wood or the finish on it, is a damp rag ok? Also the frets have some corrosion on them so if you can tell me what sand paper grit to use for removing it without removing too much material off the metal I'll be glad, thanks!
@HighlineGuitars4 жыл бұрын
The best way to clean safely is to use naphtha if you can get it. Otherwise, mineral spirits will work as well. Try 600 grit on the frets to remove the corrosion.

Can I use alcohol in you're opinion? Although I'm pretty sure what you're answer will be, I used alcohol once for cleaning a rosewood guitar neck without a finish

hm, I have several old sandpapers. One of them has 'P180 and 255P. I presume that the 255P is de european, just like your 1500?
@WonkeyWabbit4 жыл бұрын
P180 is a European grade. 255P isn't a standard European grit grade, so it may be a proprietary grit grade, or even just a manufacturer's reference code. There are several comparison tables available if you look online. US and Euro grits are the same up to 220. It's above that they diverge and the Euro papers are coarser for a given grit rating e.g. US 500 is the same as P1000. And Micromesh grit ratings are different again.
