I left an eschatological cult called Seventh Day Adventism (born from William Miller’s date setting)… I’m happy to be learning orthodox Christian teaching thanks to Ligonier ministries.

God does not lie. He holds everything in his hands. His time is in his wisdom. Man thinks he is smarter. One day every knee will bow to Jesus Christ and understand he has been right and what he taught was true and perfect.

After these first two session, I've certainly been properly primed to receive a fuller understanding of the bible's teaching about what is yet to come. And further, it is equipping us to make a reasonable defense concerning what our Lord spoke, whether while on earth, or later on through His Apostles, primarily Paul. I was previously taught to view prophecy with an eye to a more immediate, and then to a secondary or distant future fulfillment. We most certainly can point to clear examples of this, but whether it holds true for all...well let's just say I'm eager to hear what Dr. Sproul has to say. Two thumbs up.

While listening to this I couldn’t help but think of Canon Farrar. Such a deep thinker, and obviously in love with our LORD, but seems to question the most basics of our understanding of Scripture. I like to be challenged in my suppositions of Scripture, but I must remain adherent to the Truth of the Word. All I can ultimately claim is that Christ is the Son of God…The most Holy of All. Peter exclaimed: “Thou art the Christ. The Son of the Living God.” He will come again. That’s what He promised. It will be achieved. I will believe Him above all else!

The battle of Armageddon was fought and won on the cross of Jesus Christ He is the Kingdom of God I also told us that He gives us authority to do even greater things. Seems Albert Schweitzer missed the joyful assertion that Jesus made in John's gospel that He has completed the work for which He was sent into this work. The kingdom of God grows slowly and it is composed of His people.

Jesus primarily mentions the "conclusion of the age" meaning the destruction of the temple, and discontinuation of the priesthood. On two occasions he uses this phrasing while assuring h is disciples, I am with you always until the "conclusion of the age". Jesus is speaking to the "church", not just to his immediate disciples. When the temple was destroyed that generation ended, and the generation of the church remains awaiting his return.

Parousia happened first century AD as did the rapture however there are other "parousias" in Revelation that have not happened yet. Rev 19, great white throne room judgement, new Jerusalem.

My God My God why have thou forsaken me saying had nothing to do with unfulfilled mission of the Kingdom but of God literally leaving the Body of Jesus (which Jesus never experienced on earth) so Jesus could fully die. It's sad to hear how Schwitzer viewed Christ. What a shame.

Schweitzer is so wrong, Jesus cried out because The Father in all justice Had to remove Himself from Jesus and ignore Him because 1. Jesus had "become sin" and a Holy GOD cant answer or look upon so much evil and accept it, it has to be atoned for, 2. Jesus' godhood had to be removed so he could "relate" to us as a human, at that point He was truely and wholey human! He had to suffer and feel abandonment like we do because many of us were abandoned by parents, spouses and number 3. In order for Jesus to remove the sin of our ignoring the FATHER, so its forgiven by the Father, He had to suffer for it...there had to be that blood cover, there is of course that reason and proof by verse Hebrews 4:15, For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet he did not sin." So He remained blameless to take it away. Upon accepting Christs words "it is finished" our sins are covered and hidden from the FATHER to appear "clean, perfect and blameless in HIS presence, we "take on" Christs perfect character and the Father sees, loves and forgives us. Jesus never called God, "God". He always called him "Father"...so when Jesus said " My God, My God why hast thou forsaken me" he was quoting from the old Testament to fulfill scripture. He wasn't disillusioned"

God did never forsake the Jesus. Our beloved prophet Jesus was taken to haven (it's a matter of contention among theologians and historians).
