I used to buy Mead from Thorin when he was selling it illegally in the Texas Renaissance Festival campground. He is an awesome guy.

I'm not sure a Viking can sell mead illegally. He can only do it without the bureaucracy's approval.

I met "Thorin" at the Texas Renaissance Festival years back before he bottled his mead like it is now. He used to make it in Cut n' Shoot, Tx and sold it in the campgrounds under the table. Good quality mead.

I get the feeling that if PV3 drinks that whole bottle, he is going to pull out that horned viking helmet he kept from that play, arm himself with that hunting knife that he uses to fend off the winos in the park he sleeps at during the night, and go over to Abby's house to give the tires of her car a little bit of "Odin's fury".

I wouldn't exactly call myself a LOTR nerd since I've only seen one LOTR and the 3 hobbit movies, but even I know who Thorin Oakenshield is :p I don't think referencing one LOTR character makes you a LOTR nerd, otherwise I'd be one.

PV3 looked so happy this episode! Mead is pretty much closer to wine than most other drinks on this channel, so it was real interesting to see his take on it. I love mead a lot, might have to see how to get this regional one, maybe send PV3 some from my local meadery?

Mead is the one type of alcohol I really enjoy without mixing into other drinks. Honeywood is a local winery here in OR, they make some amazing mead.

I've actually made my own mead before (came in about 18.5~ ABV), and it ran until complete dryness, had to add some more honey into it after stopping the fermentation to back it up a little lmao

Next time, I recommend you try something from Superstition Meadery. They're local to us (in Prescott, Arizona; the symmetry is one more reason you should try it) and have some of the best meads on the planet. Lots of awards. Like, *lots* of awards. If you do give it a go, just know we don't pronounce the city's name like yours. Here it's "Pres-kit." Rhymes with "biscuit."

Try All-Wise Mead. They make some really good dry meads. Also a pyment (grape and honey mead) would be interesting.

I think mead and beer also developed together (beer coming from mead with bitter herbs and grains added and wine being mead made with grapes). Eventually, beer would be buttered exclusively with hops over bitter herbs.

I've enjoyed me on one occasion and it is wonderful. Though I had to drive a bit to find a store that sells it. Also man, still consider the beard. Think of the time you'll save by not having to shave or the money spent on razors. I still feel it would be a good look for you. Keep on keeping on.

Yeah, basic fermentation, the sugars in the honey are metabolised by the yeast in alcohol. Thorin's a cool cat.

That's what really makes these videos so good IMO. He's not just reviewing drinks but also creating this whole universe of characters and even though we've never actually seen any of them, we know who is who and what each character's personality is like. That to me is really good writing. I love it!
