"I'm not really doin it to make a ton of money, I'm doing it cause I enjoy the journey. You're out there doing the best you can and keep people up and running." This is why we watch. We like the rough/ blunt exterior of a guy that seems to mostly help out the elderly so another crook doesn't go in there to take what little money they need to eat. To a long and honest carrer Steve; cheers and never change.

Thanks for video Steven. Had a guy come to work today to give me estimate to replace a rooftop commercial unit. He watches you so we started having a good laugh with some of your sayings and some of the customers you've had.

Watching you is as pleasurable as watching my AC guy!! He appreciates not dealing with a dumbass when it comes to this stuff. Plus, when it hits a wall, I call and he's there within a couple hours. About an hour later - back on line.

Just replaced a Trane A/C. Installed in 1991. Only repair was a new fan motor 5 years ago.
@Garth201111 ай бұрын
Same here. We have an Amana 4T condenser built from 1991, all original, even the capacitor ! The Emerson motor bearings were slowly drying out. The fan was not coasting to a stop freely that I noticed months back so I kept an eye on it. Sourced a Nidec US Motors Mojave (ball bearings) motor and replaced it just a month ago. The Emerson motor had "oil ports" for both sides...filled it with the recommended oil and she's now a back up motor...spins freely as ever. Measured the existing capacitor and the numbers are still 40/7.5 according to the meter ! I replaced it anyway and its now a spare with the old motor in the event there is a need in the future. Used an Amrad made in USA so I hope that goes for awhile longer than the $10 caps.

@@stevenlavimoniere there’s only a little sarcasm in that lol. I personally don’t mind Goodman, and they are made here in texas. My carrier system is now 4 years old so far so good.
@jblyon211 ай бұрын
@@w.miller7282 I'm convinced Goodman's reputation is due to the hacked installs the low ballers, or the contractors working for large developers, usually do. Around here you'd be hard pressed to find a new development, condo, or apartment building that wasn't full of poorly installed Goodman equipment. There's a condo complex up the road from me, and just from the photos when one goes up for sale you can tell how horribly they were installed. I'm sure it's 10x worse when you look at it up close!
@Garth201111 ай бұрын
@@stevenlavimoniereLOL He will disagree and I don't see any reason for that when you figure in the "value" they provide vs. the expensive Trane brand. Not to mention, those spine fined coils do not impress in the long run.

I love doing the HVAC work . And I don’t up sale either I try to repair and I do honest work . Not out to get to the customers . I had guy call me Tuesday this week a local company had charged him $700.00 to wash condenser coil only . Told him it was fixed and would be cooled down after several hours. This job was done midday on Monday and at 8:00 pm Monday night it was 91 inside the house . He called me Tuesday to ask me if he got took . Told him he sure did and I would come look at it for him . He said he was gone call other back and see if they would warrant their work since it didn’t fix the issue .

That was a great Video from start to finish, I wonder about the pros and cons of brazing the Copper lines Vs Soldering. Solder makes a much prettier joint and without all that heat. I'm convinced higher temperatures must change the Copper somehow and make it weaker. You do beautiful Solder work! It has to be learned.🙂
@stevenlavimoniere11 ай бұрын
staybrite 8 is a high silver soilder its good for 3000 lbs stronger then brazing and less heat , and does not oxidize the inside of pipe ,so no nitrogen is needed when soldering .for me its just easyer to do it this way

got 30 years off my 1.5 ton trane. with a hard start kit it would still be going but with the gas situation i opted for a new carrier. its a lot quieter. and from what i hear tossed out for prices i did better in the midwest than down east. that was 3 years ago.

First off Steve, KUDOS on your soldering . It would be interesting to see what you could do with fine electronic soldering. My question is: Are all refrigerants dangerous in that they can produce a toxic (Fozgene) gas?
@Jon.Rushing11 ай бұрын
The ones that have chlorine in them can produce phosgene. It can also produce hydrogen chloride and hydrogen fluoride too.

So on a relatively new TRANE system seems it would be advisable to put some Freon and Dye in the system and try to find the leak rather than replace the whole system.

Do this every single day, we install exclusively rheem, good products while those 28” are fun the 34-1/2 are even more fun ha! can I ask why you chose to solider it and not braze in? You aren’t concerned about the higher pressure of 410?
@esbonwordenjr606911 ай бұрын
I braze everytime... i have never in my life used stay brite 8 but you can use it and the tensile strength is there... id still flow a little nitro just in case but its alright to use staybrite that is what it is made for but it dont close gaps well and i dont ever want to use flux unless you need to for bonding different metals...
