It's day one of our travel vlog to Rome italy! And today we head straight out to Vatican city. We made a little bit of a tourist error, and because this trip was booked so last min we actually struggled to get into the main attractions. But this didn't stop us having a unforgettable first day in Rome & Vatican City
We head to taste a delicious roman dessert, climb to the top of Castel Sant Angelo and Explore Vatican City and St Peters square on todays Travel Vlog in Italy!
YOU DA BEST
Love,
Catherine

I love the fact that this is a last-minute budget trip! You don't see too many vlogs of trips like these, but it's pretty much the only way I'm ever able to travel. I love seeing all the amazing things you get up to without having planned them months in advance. Also, I've always felt that there's something extra special about traveling on a budget because it forces you to think creatively and try things that aren't traditionally as touristy. So glad I found your channel!

Hehehe exactly! We always do last min budget trips! It’s the best way to explore and get a bargain ahahah I’m the type to want to go on multiple cheap trips than one super luxurious one 😂🤣 so these are perfect for us!

We were in Rome in 2004 with our sons, then 9 & 12 years old. Things have NOT changed…it’s still a wonderful experience you will never forget. Endless historic architecture, statues, busts, fountains, crowds, 🍕 , 🍕 , 🍕 …😅. As soon as you pointed your camera at that bust, I’m sure we all thought “Voldemort!”, too.😂. You’re so funny!

Italy is the bottomless pit of artistic beauty, no matter how much one tries to conquer the proverbial tour, it continues to grow and grow and grow 😂😂😂. It is such a beautiful cultural country that there is almost an endless much to see, all you have to do is skip two steps and you’re on top of something beautiful. My favorite is Florence, and equal to that I would say Venice. These feel more contained and consumable. A good and more affordable place to stay in Venice is in Giudecca to have a full on view, and for Florence is just in a quick suburb next door.

Thank you for taking is along. After being a snob about them when i was young, i started to really appreciate the hop on/hop off sightseeing city tour busses - they are just so convenient and give you a lovely overview of the hot spots of each city, allowing you to hop off where you want and then just take the next one. You do not have to plan which places to include for sightseeing and deal with the metro etc. I am now a complete convert of sightseeing busses - used them for madrid, paris, london, lyon, chicago, boston and san francisco❤❤❤

If you’re going to the Forum, start at the top gate, on the hill. When I was there a few years ago, we arrive in the morning and there was only about a ten minute line.

@@catherinekayy Aw, that's too bad. Rome is wonderful but it does help to plan ahead. I would also recommend the trip to Ponza Island. We booked with Viator and they were great. We took a fishing boat trip around the island and it was amazing! Have a great time!

I love Rome! I went there back in 2006 and I would love to go back again. There were free tours at the time called "Angel Tours" but I don't know if they are still going. Also, at the time, you could get the tickets for the colosseum in the forums nextdoor with no queue! Again that was 2006 so things might be different now :)

We bought our tickets to the Vatican and Coliseum online the night before each time I’ve taken friends or family to Rome. But I’m told that booking now has to be weeks or more in advance for either. And the tour companies buy up the tickets once available so often a person has to pay their markup or skip them.

I'm probably the only person who thinks that place looks dirty and ugly. I love all the places you've gone and my favorite was I think called Lapland the Santa place, that was absolutely amazing but I can rule this off my list of places to see before I die
@catherinekayy
@catherinekayy Жыл бұрын
Thats totally valid! It's not for everyone, I have to admit, like any major city, it definitely does have it's run down areas, because its so heavily crowded with tourism, it also tends to get messy easy in certain areas, please be aware we were out from the center of Rome, and travelled in, so we were in a residential area, however, Italy is beautiful, and I have some vlogs coming up where we visit less crowded areas like a small town called Lucca, which was stunning! I can see how Rome wouldn't be for everyone though. And your right, Lapland was pure magic!
@JodyOwen-we6oo
@JodyOwen-we6oo Жыл бұрын
Rome is cheerfully chaotic. I absolutely love the city, but if order and cleanliness are your taste Italy still has choices. The farther north you go the more orderly public spaces are. The smaller towns are more orderly than the cities. And they are charming. Bologna, Milano, Lucca and the Tuscan hill towns are all pretty and pleasant without the crowds and lines in Rome. Lucca has nice vacation apartments, biking on the old city walls and a short train to Florence or Pisa if wanted. Avoid Venice. It’s a lot of walking and getting lost, quite expensive and in summer smells a bit from stagnant lagoon water. (I don’t say nobody should go to Venice. I enjoy it. But it sounds not your taste. ). It’s also old and to a certain taste looks a bit dilapidated. The food and art and architecture in Italy are worth the visit in my opinion but Italy will never be as ordered and clean as charming Bavaria or Switzerland.
