I still have no idea how the hell Alex Hirsch got away with that butterfly/fairy dust deal turned sting operation scene. Apparently, he doesn't either. The emails between him and the S&P staff he revealed suggest it wasn't easy. And then Grenda just chloroforms a satyr afterwards, like seriously. How?

I love how understanding you both are of Mabel. Some reaction channels take any opportunity to just relentlessly bash her or in this case, make fun of her for being called a bad person. She's not a bad person; she may have a selfish pattern and enjoys teasing Dipper, but we've seen that she's very loving and genuinely wants to help people.

@@evil63Because a simple "sorry" for all stuff she did is extremely unsatisfying, and this idea didn't belong to Alex Hirsch, that was actually the artist of the comic who came up with Mabel redemption arc, because she thought that Mabel 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 needed that.

@@Rayni_XZ.o... they're talking about on any level, Mabel is a bit of shitty person, and no one, in the show or it's production, call her out on it. And anytime the show seems to call her out, it's immediately undercut, often with whataboutism. The Unicorn is this episode, to Bill in the Sock Puppet one, to the Love God in the Love God Episode, they can seem to stop themselves from growing Mable's character in any meaningful way. Can you honestly tell me that the Mable at the end of the show is, in any meaningful way, different from the Mable at the start of the show? She still selfishly seeks after her own transient wants and needs, taking from her brother over and over and over again, and Dipper is just expected to endlessly give up his own future and potential and happiness for her own, while she's free to feel entitled to it? There's a reason people bash her character. And, as much as I love her, that doesn't mean I can just ignore her flaws: they're part of her, from beginning to end. I just wish she grew as a person by the end is all, and I think a lot of others do, too.

@@marionette8739 Look, I agree with everything you just said, i myself don't hate Mabel, I hate her writing, because after rewatching this show, I noticed that Mabel is getting away with everything, she almost destroyed the shack in episode "Boss Mabel" ?She didn't loose at the end, but Stan did. She kidnapped living human beings, kept them as her pets, and in the end turned on her own friends?She gets emotional after one song, apologizes to boys, not to her friends she just kicked out, and gets away with it, she didn 't even properly apologized to boys, and I'm surprised her friends actually forgave her, even though they saw how quickly she ditched them. Also, episode where she travels through time to get her pig back, didn't Dipper warned her about how dangerous is time travelling?And after that warning she still trying to destroy the time line, that would've had major consequences, and also, because of her selfishness, Blendin lost his job and was sent to prison, I know, it's not only Mabel's fault, but it's still part of her fault, and after guilttripping Dipper, she gets her pig and everyone is happy, no consequences needed. We can go, on and on with that, but I'm just going to stop here, I think that's enough evidence.

Fun Facts Time About This Episode! - The episode title "The Last Mabelcorn" is a play on the title of the book and movie "The Last Unicorn." It's considered a minor cult classic with an interesting perspective on such fantasy settings by having it seen primarily from the eyes of the nigh-immortal unicorn that's spent most of her existence isolated from the larger world around her. - In this episode's commentary, Alex Hirsch stated how he hated the movie version of the unicorn because of her entitled attitude and how most of the characters either tacitly accepted it or went to great lengths to earn her favor and make her happy. So, to express his displeasure for that character, he thought it would be funny to write a unicorn whose constant regal and pure attitude was a colossal pain to others that had to realistically deal with her. It also helped that it was all just a scam for her to mess with others that thought unicorns were deserving of such high praise. - The unicorn's full name Celestabellebethabelle can be seen as a comedic jab at overly frilly names of high fantasy characters, but it can also be viewed as a combined parody of the characters Celestia and Rarity from G4 of _My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic._ C-belle even has a variation on Rarity's three-diamond cutie mark (aka the tattoo on her flank). - There was originally going to be a fully-animated fight between Mabel and the girls and the unicorns, but it had to be cut for time. Judging by how messed up all four girls were afterward it probably was pretty intense (and would have likely drawn serious fire from the Disney censors if they went through with including it in the episode).

I'm still surprised by the fact that the whole 'exchange' bit was actually approved to be put in the show. Most of the adult jokes are tame enough to fly over some heads but this is so on the nose that it's a miracle it didn't get immediately shot down.

Words cannot express how much I love how exaggerated the unicorns are. The sparkly eyes, dramatic poses, crazy names, colourful hair-- it's all AMAZING!

Y’all NEED to react to “dippers guide to the unexplained” and “Mabel’s guide to …” they are little shorts that would play at the end of every episode when they originally aired there is also “fixin it with Soos” and other random shorts like “Mabel’s scrapbook”

I like this episode for the girls given it’s one of the few episodes focused on Mabel and her friends that didn’t focus on boys or boy talk. That, plus the info we learned in the B plot from Ford/Dipper was neat, and the episode is comedy gold. Stan in particular killed in every scene he was in.

it's refreshing to see someone react to Gravity Falls and *not* relentlessly hate Mabel. don't get me wrong, i *used* to, but after rewatching it, i gave her some slack.

i don't hate mabel, but i see people's point regarding some aspects. It's true that she doesn't really learn any lessons despite many episodes being centered around her flaws and learning lesson and supposedly overcoming it, but it doesn't really happens with her character, I understand why that would irritate people

Mabel is probably the most realistic 12 year old I’ve ever seen in a show. Honestly a lot of these people I’ve seen hate on Mabel seriously don’t remember being a preteen, or at least haven’t been around many of them. Most children are incredibly selfish. It comes with the lack of life experience. And the amount of people who rag on her for her (mostly very tame) picking on her brother,,, I just Have you ever met siblings before? Honestly Mabel and Dipper get along better than most siblings I’ve met in real life, ESPECIALLY for their age

I read somewhere (though don't remember where) that apparently some people (mostly outside the US) didn't like the fact that the unicorns here turned out to be jerks and so didn't like this episode because of it. I believe the reason is due to fantasy creatures like unicorns being considered sacred and so the idea of them not being how they're commonly depicted as (in this case pure of heart sweethearts) didn't sit well with them. Personally I like this different depiction of them as not only does it stand out from the pack and make it memorable but it would also be boring and too predictable if they were like all the others. That aside there was a planned fight scene between the girls and unicorns that was fully animated but was cut for time.

Go Mabel! She went from being obsessed and enchanted with unicorns to being DIS-enchanted with them. What a story arc. Join the dark side! My brother had seen the show years before I did. When I started watching it in 2020, he very much wanted to watch this particular episode with me. I realized this must be really really good. Like VERY HILARIOUS. Sure enough, that was the case.

I see so many reaction channels (or maybe I just keep watching the wrong ones) who think Mabel is this super evil manipulative person? And, yes, she is not a great person, she's definitely a flawed little kid and I'm willing to accept the fact that her redemption arc isn't the best. But damn, this episode was a field day for the Mabel haters 😭

Yeah one reactor I usually like was on where Mabel was told "It's not my fault you're a bad person," and she gets all sad and has a personal identity crisis, and they basically laughed at her like, "Hurts, don't it?!" Like imagine being 12 years old and being told you're awful so you start questioning if you really are awful, and someone just laughs and relishes in your misery. It's bizarre and I don't get it.

Well, Mabel is a pretty bad person, I do love her character, but I don't like her writing, she supposed to be a silly, sweat and optimistic girl, but she also turned out to be extremely selfish, manipulative, antiempathic character, despite being the main character, half of the fandom hates her.

I’d say that your assumptions about ford are not entirely correct OR I just have a different view then you guys not to call u incorrect- but I’d say ford is not pure of heart but is just a narcissist and has a HUGE ego. He trusted bill not just he wanted knowledge but cause bill flattered him. Told him he’s so smart and will change the world and that everything everyone hated him for is not true and that he’s amazing. Ford just loved hearing that and immediately trusted him cause if that.

This episode was freaking hilarious. Celestabellebethabelle is based on My Little Pony. Wendy is right about women. Mabel is a sweet and pure hearted person. My favorite parts are 9:06, 9:47 and 13:25 🦄🦄🦄🔥🔥🔥🤣🤣🤣

Do you know why everyone hates Mabel? Because every episode that shows her flaws or forces her to lose something ends up on a twist. She is forced to disappoint a boy she likes in favor of defeating Bill? It's okey, he was a creep who makes out with his hands! She accidentally caused a group of friends to break up due to her playing a love God? It's okey, they made up at the end! A unicorn tells her she is not as good as she thinks she is? It's okey, the unicorn is a jerk? Do you see the pattern?
