Correction: Copernicus doesn't Shoot the souls Into people... he FINDS the people who are the reincarnations of those souls and reawakens their powers and memories.

I interpreted what Merlin said, as the warrior souls are being reincarnated into new people, and Copernicus‘s job is to reawaken their memories and powers. So Emma and the others were not chosen at random.

While i do emphasize with emma i feel like she will have to accept the reality of what she is and what she'll need to do. I feel like an underlying message in this show has something to do about fate whether it can be changed for the better or worse.I also feel bad for edred she's kind of going through the same thing emma is experiencing but with Melinda. But for now all i can say is this show is amazing and my favorite characters for now are Seng and Copernicus.

I think that the Unicorn warriors are not actually fighting for good as we believe. The bulk of the entities that the fiery serpent takes the form of are things that have become oppressed/misunderstood in some way or another, like taking the form of a wolf in western times. Currently, the things the serpent takes the form of in the London era are linked to cultures that were exploited by the British empire during that time, an Indian elephant, a bunch of antiquities (no doubt stolen), and most prominently the nine tailed fox, which heavily makes me think of that Love Death and Robots episode Good Hunting, which deals with the Asian countries that are being oppressed by British influence. Merlin may be the secret villain of the show, as why wouldn't he just time travel to the future and fight the serpent if he has the ability to do so? (Plus he looks like a villainous character in design). Not to mention the resurrection unicorn symbol having a red eye, and that the people are being possessed against their will, the whole thing screams that we should be questioning things.

I love the show so far, but I think that rather than shooting the souls into new bodies, Copernicus reawakens their memories and power from their past life. Hence why he has to search for them than find just anybody like a more suitable adult than a teen or a child.

i got a gut feeling that the kitsune/ninetailed fox as well as the serpent are a red herring, for the true evil. because there's something about merlin that rubs me the wrong way

This show is great and I love the twist in the third episode that the two characters were waiting to be chosen I like I think another twist is Copernicus has lost his memories too or maybe this was all part of the plan set by Merlin the wizard!

I didn't even consider that they weren’t the intended vessels just thought they're awaking happened to early. I thought that the dependants of past awakens were more so to show that the reincarnation process isn't based on willingness or capacity to do the job but that there are intrinsic vessels out there for them.

Am I the only one that finds it messed up that our heros have to take control of other people's bodies in order to be heros?

If I had a nickel for every time there was an adult show that featured a nine tailed fox in a steam punk world I'd have two nickels. That isn't a lot but it is weird that is happened twice.

Why isn't Marlin re born? He is there leader isn't he? And how can they fight a monster fox and not know it? Also all them monsters did come from somewhere. And that voice that Malinda heard I think that it was Emma voices from the future? That she heard so clearly. At first I thought that it was the fox lady but her voice sounds different and not the same as Emma voice. It most have being Emma voices that she heard not the fox lady voice. Also some people think that Marlin is the bad guy tricking them into fighting the fox lady and that the unicorn was fake to trick them into fighting for him. I don't know is all I can say? Marlin always being the good guy in all the story that I heard over the years? So I kind a find it hard to be live that? Also I had no idea that his father was a demon? I always wonder who is father is? Because they never say who it is?

I think based on the first likes of Melinda we can assume that if these events are “his fault” maybe Merlin accidentally created the great evil and is trying to undo his mistake

At first, when I saw the character designs the 1st time, I was a little putt off. However, it grew on me, especially when the inspiration was Astro Boy. I am curious what happens next. I only seen episode 1 because I have no access to HBO nor Adult Swim 📺

It's more like a possession than reincarnation. Look like a proper reincarnation completely erase the host mind. It's not like they are passing down a power. Emma has every rights to fight Melinda. Now I could see Emma fiancé trying to free her, something the Fox sprit could use to his advantage.

Since there are descendants of other unicorns warriors maybe this means once the evil is defeated and goes away for a while like it did the first time hundreds of years ago with the first warriors the spirits return to the robot till then so eventually Emma, Alfie and Dimitri will get their bodies back?

I'm really interested in the final thematic format of this show. After the "London Arc" where will they go? What will they do? I'm more interested in the cultural mixing they're doing with the Nine tailed fox (Japanese), Indian mystic peddlers, and glimpses of native Americans than whatever it is they're slowly building towards in London right now. This team needs a scrappy BEASTIAL one.

I super dig the show…but I’m hoping that they spend more time with the villains and what’s going on with that side of this universe before the season is over. Because right now, it just feels like the evil is evil for evil’s sake. Like we really don’t know anything about the motivation there and why the serpent’s attacking. It could just be some ancient evil just bent on the world’s destruction. But I’m hoping that there’s more to it. The vagueness might be intentional because there’s a twist coming. But overall I really love the world of this show. I’m looking forward to each new episode.

Unicorn draws many parallels with the Eternal Champion concept created by British writer Michael Moorcock, the author of the Dark Fantasy Anti-Hero Elric of Melnibone. Elric is one of the many incarnations of the Eternal Champion, bound by destiny to fight to bring Balance between the Gods of Law and Chaos. Even Edred looks similar to Elric. I'm not getting into it. Mostly do to the style I get it. It reminds me of old Fleischer cartoons, with the rubber holes animation and design. But it just doesn't look right on a majority of characters for me.

The Serpent Spirit they fought in Egypt could be associated with Apophis. Apophis is a serpent like deity that was the embodiment of Chaos. The giant serpent slain by Thor known as Jormungandr and he was a child of Loki and a giantess named Angerboda. The Norse Gods learned of Loki's giant born Children because they learned his children would be involved in the end of the world. Fenris, Hel, and Jormungandr were imprisoned. Jormungandr was imprisoned in the ocean and was said to have been so large that he could wrap around the earth and bite his own tail. He is in some ways synonymous with Leviathan since that biblical being was depicted as being a gigantic ocean bound snake. This could be the version of the snake spirit is representing during the Viking era. Kitsune or Fox Spirits in general on the other aren't actually evil, they aren't good either. They are are best described as chaotic as they do things based on their own ethics and interests. There is some lore of an evil Fox Spirit known as Tamamo-no-Mae who would attract the interests of people in high standing places. Her highborn lovers would commit great atrocities such as orchestrating the murders of innocent people just to make her smile. Eventually she was defeated by a man named Abeno Seimei (Japanese equivalent of Merlin) who was the human born child of another Kitsune known as Kazunoha. Tamamo-No-Mae's spirit was imprisoned in a rock labeled as the "Killing Stone" because it supposedly kills anyone who touches it. Interesting note, the stone that is believed to have been her prison actually broke in two last year.

I’m going to have to disagree with the interpretation that Copernicus just shoots the hero’s souls into people. I think it’s more likely that Copernicus just goes to the reincarnations of the hero’s and reawakens them with his blast. The first evidence is that Copernicus outright confirms that Emma is Melinda when she asks if she is her. The second evidence is that if Copernicus did shoot their souls into people that would imply their souls are contained in him, the issue with this is alfie after his awakening was able to sense edrid before Copernicus awakened him and went to the magic location where edrid was awakened, implying their souls are not just in Copernicus body and that they’re reincarnations can be sensed before the awakening. You also have edrid himself confirming in the magic show that Copernicus job is to reawaken them. Plus the fact Copernicus seems to “know” where to go and who to choose illustrates that he’s selecting specific groups of people, which makes sense if his goal is to look for the reincarnations of his comrades.
