unigine is a really fantansy enigine

Not free for commercial use. Why would I use it over Unity that is free or Unreal?

There's the reason behind it. The uni stands for universal and of course, they were never intended to be obsessed with the letter U, and there's also an meaning of Universal, because unigine has universal performance like no other before like in the last video they said unigine has a terrain that is so life-like and can run a planet pretty finely. And the gine means engine, that's it.

UE4 and Unity has a lot of features and let's face it Unigine is not totally free, to bad because it can destroy both engine if their release the full version, but I don't think it will change soon, I see Unigine like a niche engine for serious open world and simulation stuffs, not bad but not for everybody

Definitely not. Not sure about UDK and cryengine, but Unity offers all features up front, and only applies charges once you release a game that earns over a certain amount. This engine looks brilliant, but the pricing model completely castrates it ever being a viable competitor for the other popular and established engines available.

My point was this is most definitely not a unity killer at very least, because it charges up front for features that unity does give you initially for free. Not saying this engine doesn't look better than unity, if it had the same pricing model, documentation, support and popularity I would most likely get in on it.

@@dotcom4389 Exactly. It's that pricing model that makes unity so popular. Currently it will only attract larger companies who - let's face it - are either using their own engine or UE4, and wouldn't see a benefit in using this.

You can also get dark theme on unity with some tweaking

Unreal engine looked incredible too back in the day. And it still looks amazing today. Keep in mind this is a showroom video, and everything looks amazing. You could do something similar with unreal engine as well.

Bruh maybe you are forgetting Server capabilities that are currently being added to lumberyard. yet this seems a good competitor of cryengine.

@@georgepaz1143 All the required features are included in the community version including the latest terrain tools. Only the niche advanced features almost no dev (including AAA devs) would need (for visualisation, simulation, non gaming stuff) is locked.

yeah I hate that TAA blurriness fortunately there is a way to fix it tho, Open console and type "r.Tonemapper.Sharpen .3" 3 is what I found to be sweet spot but you can do down or up.

@@panicschannel7665 Eh....the UI is a bit slow and clunky. It only supports C# or Javascript as for well known programming languages, which are a bit too high level if you really want to mess around with malloc and stuff, which you would if you've ever touched C/C++. I also kind of hate how many premade functions and objects there are in the Unity API. Some functions that deals with things like vector operations felt a bit unnecessary in my opinion. It also doesn't help that I hate Javascript from the bottom of my heart for some reason, but that's another story for another day.

Thats why they flock to videos like this because they think its going to just magically make everything for them. Weak willed people shouldnt be game developees. Do we really need a thousand more RPG MAKER games? Honestly? No we dont. Learn by all means but stop making excuses as to why you suck. Also cold? At least you could specify which blender render engine you mean... Eevee as an example is inspired by unreal engines render pipeline
