It's so smart of Gus to hire someone who doesn't do fancy laser measurements because they could use it sabotage his surveillance cameras and escape! Wait....
@pedroperez6521 Жыл бұрын
He actually did not hired him because he was talking about other (probably confidential as well) architecture projects. So maybe one day would probably talk about this one too. Gus It is smart so he didn't to take that risk.

@@pedroperez6521 that's just one reason. he was too confident about the job, giving Gus the impression that he wasn't a serious man. Werner pointed out how difficult and near-impossible it is.

@@jotarokujo5132 yup. Other guy was the definitive bullshitter who overpromises and under-delivers. Werner was completely upfront that this would not be easy and would be very expensive, things a client doesn't normally want to hear, but Gus is not a normal client.

I've watched this scene loads of times and I think you've struck on a big part of what makes it great - the sound. I don't know how much of it is foley work, but it's just perfect, right down to the flexible ruler and the pencil scribbling.

Every facet of this show is worked out meticulously. The costumes, the cinematographty, the sound, the lighting, just all of it.

Filmmakers often forget that sounds are a part of the experience. It's not just visuals and talking.

I think they picked Werner because he acted like he was there to do a job. No preamble, just straight to measurements, gave it to them straight, very business oriented.

@@readbyname If you rewatch the scene where Gus hides the gun in the lab, he was counting how many paces it was from the power cable connection to the excavator where he hid the gun, so that he’d know his way to it in the dark once he kicked the power out.

The fact that he was using such old methods is why it was taking so long? One of the rare bad Gus decisions on the show. The guy was nightmare. His workers sucked. His best demolition man was a jerk. He ended up having a bigger mouth then the first guy.

Gus didn’t give a shit how long it took nor what they were like as people.
@Durzel Жыл бұрын
@@unclekarl5219 Indeed. Gus cared about discretion, and no bullshitting. The other French (?) guy wildly underestimated the job, and volunteered info about another dodgy job he'd worked on - two big red flags. I also think Mike liked the analog approach of Werner too.
@jammin25758 ай бұрын
Wrong on all accounts, this guy is a professional he anticipated the needs of the job. His men were professionals who did their job even if one had an attitude problem, he was called on it and turned out to be a non issue in the long run. The only problem is Werner didn’t realize who he was dealing with and that his “vacation” to see his wife was a major security risk and that got him killed. Even with him gone his team got the job done and done well. So no your take is complete trash.
