Give him his credit. man don't rain on other people's parade. He worked super hard and earned his place in History. The fact that he MADE it to the MN State fair means something. Rise and SHINE! It's your moment, enjoy it.

unfortunately that is not a hmong food. That is some food cooked by hmongs. Their food is is a simple boil vegetable and protein. Also closer to Chinese. They don't eat anything like you see now until they live in refugee camp in Thailand with Laotians and later when they intermingle with Laotians in other countries.

@DabbyDooMan i dont know what your ethnicity, or you if are Hmong or Lao. But if you were alive during the 40s-50s-60s you would know this is not what Hmong eat. Hmong started to eat like Lao and accepting Lao food into their diet and cooking it when they interact more with Lao during the war, at the refugee camp, and when they arrive in the US. What you see or read on the internet is from 1980s and up to now. By this time they already eating Lao food.

@DabbyDooMan the big guy there is Hmong from Laos. I specifically talk about Hmong from Laos. The big guy cook Lao dish in other videos, said it is what his parents eat in Laos. We worked with Hmong during 60s and 70s and when some of them came over to US in the 80s. Since they didn't speak any English many of these catholic social service and church organizations that sponsored them asked us to help with new arrival. We were with them every weekend at church and at their home for many months. We cooked and ate together. I know what I am talking about.

Not the traditional Hmong food but more of a present day food Hmong people eat. BTW, his food is way overrated.

This dude is way overrated. And heavily so, and only by local media. There's plenty of Hmong chefs, yet you only highlight him. Anyone can go to little Mekong and this dude would be faded easily.

@@The8Don Really neat place, grew up by there. The food court there is really good. The blood sausages freak me out a little, but I might try one some day.

This dude’s food is really blend. If you want flavorful “Hmong” made food, go to Hmong Village or Hmong Town.

Brother the best usually doesn’t get to the top. It’s the one who markets the best

It's marketing. Happens in EVERY single industry. Plenty of great singers, chefs, athletes out there that don't get the recognition they deserve because they don't market themselves.

@@father5946 Well that's obvious. He's obviously not the only Hmong chef out here. Mysteriously he's the only one being promoted for whatever reason, which is lazy journalism. If the media truly cares about Hmong culture or chefs, they'd highlight more than one dude.

Sorry, the food this year (2023) at the state fair, esp the pork buns were very over rated. Honestly, it was pretty blend. Geared towards meeka people, no offense. I'm Hmong, and I've had better home made ones. But good ups, as long as you get paid.
