4 жыл бұрынTrying out a new soap and Aftershave balm from the good folks at Moon Soaps. This one is a classic take on the traditional Barbershop scent.
“Union is a sharp, cooling, and pungent take on a classic American style barbershop fragrance. It's a step back into the 1950s where the hard work of a craftsman was not only common, but appreciated.
Scent notes: Union is comprised of a complex blend of fresh Lemon, soft Sandalwood, Oakmoss, Amber Musk, Bay, and a subtle touch of Nutmeg.
We've added Grape Seed Oil to the recipe for increased slickness and post shave feel, as well as Menthol for a refreshing clean finish. The cooling sensation is moderate, the slickness is exceptional. We drew our packaging inspiration from vintage coffee cans, beer bottles, and oil cans from the 50s and 60s.”

Nice shave. Remember, the Merkur Progress came out in the 50ies at the same time as the mighty Fatboy. And the Progress is still in production! 👍🏼

I was terrified of Feather blades too, but it has become my go to blade. Close shave with a lot less irritation. Angel has fallen, is the best of the 3 movies!

Congrats on 13k, just keeps growing! On blades I have found overall that the 2nd use of a blade is normally the best - good balance between sharpness and smoothness and you can go that little bit faster with it.

Yeah I’m not gonna lie I’m not by any means perfect with feathers yet. My fav right now is Gillette Silver Blue &Personna Red. Right under that would be PolSilver and Voskhod. As u know Ken I’ve been Traditional WetShaving for close to 9 or so months now, and I can just remember having no equipment as far as DE shaving goes. Now I have a R41 1964 Gillette Slim Adjustable 1949 SuperSpeed and a Merkur Future Clone !! Very glad to say you’ve been a big hand in me starting this fun hobby! Just wanted to say thanks and I appreciate the time u take to just have a shave! 💈😁✌️💈 🌊🌊🏄🏼♂️ Congrats on 13K!! 🍾

Great shave DS Cosmetics makes a good brush and they are currently sending brushes to a few Utube stars I bought a Silver Tip back in January this year for around 25-26 AUD you can’t get them at that price now

sniperwolfjs there most ppls fav .. I haven’t use them long enough to make that determination but so far my favorite blade is Gillette Silver blue, next in line in no particular order is PolSilver Voskhod Personna Red 7oclock yellow feather ... really want to try Wilkinson Sword and PermaSharp!

I like the Personna reds, Gillette Silver Blues, Astra Greens, Parker blades, Nacets, and Polsilvers are my favorite blades. Those have been the ones that I use that show no irritation and get the job done no matter what razor I use.

If I could only have one razor it would be a custom straight razor. If it had to be a safety razor I'd take a Merkur slant

Astra Green was my favorite blade upon entering this hobby but that was well over a decade ago. Past several years, Pol Silver Super Iridium, Bolzano and Feather are my go to in all razors mild, or aggressive. I also came to conclusion that the Feathers are not scary at all but a very necessary tool (with my thick Sicilian facial hair) to achieve a DFS every time. Especially, with an R41 because it's as you said; truly a one pass shave. You can go for the second but it's not needed.

If I had to choose only one safety razor, it would be the Muhle R41, I use it daily accompanied by a Feather blade with Pre Provance soap and with 2 passes it is a shaving wonder. Greetings and I like the idea of your review's .

It’s funny when I first started shaving I bought a EJ DE89 it came with 1 feather blade I bought 100 Gillette Wilkinson Sword blades as at that time they were your go to blades After 2-3 shaves on DE89 I switched to the Gillette Wilkinson Sword blades any way to cut a long story short I got Feather blades again with another razor Since then that’s basically all I use so bought 100 Feather

aah, Ken - the SKX007 is a classic! I´ve gone deep into micros now, but that one was a favourate of mine for years. Nice shave. I doo have some trouble getting my soaps thick enough. I suspect it's a time thing.

You mentioned getting rid of the Merkur futur, I've never owned or used one, but did purchase and shaved with the futur clone the Qshave, excellent razor for a small price, a few others have mentioned it as well.

Its a clone, but nowhere near to a Futur. Howevr, the original's a beast, not much forgiving, belonging into experienced hands. Just to mention, its a serious darne close tool. The likes of R41 2nd model.

Ken, congrats for 13k subscribers #theworldisnotenough 😉 Never bought this razor as this yellow plastic adjustment knob looks somewhat like cheap crap (designwise...) Maybe I will pull the trigger for a Mergress at a later stage, as it did cure this design flaw (YMMV, just my 2 cent)... did you ever use a Mergress? Greetings from Germany!

Since you mentioned Old Spice back there. Do you know if they are still making shaving creams and aftershaves? I looked on Amazon earlier just out of curiosity and found some tubes of Old Spice, but then read below that Old Spice stopped making shaving cream and that there was some doubt about the tubes' authenticity.

Mny of yr shaves go alongside with my own experience, being german, living in the Lion City of Singapore, married to a Chinese lady. Imo the plastic knob Progress is a hidden jewel. The knob is ugly, the tolerances inaccurate. Eric Meir overhaules, tightens tolerances, resulting in the Mergress. Myself consider it far superior, even to most other adjustables like T-model, Rex, Futur, others. Nice knob options, still cheaper than others. Enjoy the next week, cheerio.

Cam he takes his time and doesn’t want to scoop the whole neck in one go. he does it in layers.. a great tip I picked up from him
