Ugh. I'm such a sucker for beautiful books... It's why I got into bookbinding as a hobby in the first place. Ever since I did a simple pamphlet stitch book for a video I've been jonesing to do more and more and MORE bookbinding, but also to just hoard and totally collect gorgeous books from out in the world. That personal journal is just so gorgeous, and I Forget what that binding method is called but the different types of paper is so thrilling. I've gotten two of those black moleskin journals from art boxes, and just a fair word of warning-it is NOT good at handling water. The crinkle wrinkle warping is real, so you might want to sort of add a buffer to the page by adding some transparent watercolor ground or something? My favorite of the ones you got is that observer's notebook! Some people might find the massive variations frustrating, but I think it's inspiring! Really cool.

I love the poppy journal. I can see using that for dreams and observations and found things like feathers and flower pressing!

The red one is so beautiful!!! I love how multi-textured the papers are. What I'm sad about is that I will never find these in my country :(

I love these! All of them are absolutely beautiful! I especially love the observer's notebook (like most people), it reminds me of the sea. If I get this, I'll definitely use it for seaside sketches, I live really close to the sea

The Observer’s Notebook seems like a journal I would write in as an actual journal, rather than recording weather in it, haha

Can’t wait for the guash video. I’ve been experimenting with guash and would love a video on how you set up your guash palette. I’ve only been able to find acrylic guash in tubes or super-cheap sets that already come in a pallet. It feels like all the artists and following who are painting guash have made their own pallets. I would love some guidance on how to set up something like that, or, just how to get started in guash in general.

Lovely books. Did she give you the specifics on the particular papers that were in each book, aside from the poppy mix? Just wondering about the specific weights and I also wonder about the thin paper in one of the books. One of my fav papers for watercolor journaling as well as drawing and writing with various inks in my fountain pens is the Tomoe River paper. At 52 and 64 weights they feel so delicate yet do not bleed through to the back and they have a delightful crinkly texture when watercolors dry. You will need to try out various media in each book to see how the papers work, another fun time that encourages creativity all in the need for research.
