In 1985 a man named Jack Chancellor from Phoenix City Alabama won the Bassmaster Classic on a bait he designed. It was called the do nothing rig. A four inch worm straight with no shape and no action with two small hooks fished Carolina rig. To set the hook you just wind the handle. I remember that day very well. I was so proud someone from Al. won the classic.Sometime the simple things just work better. Like you Richard. I've been watching your channel for a long time. I don't leave comments often but I never miss a video. I stopped by your house one day and you told me how close you were to my brother Jimmy Bright and that he taught you how to fish a Jig and the tournaments yall fished together.when I saw this video and the way you set the hook I thought of the Do nothing rig but more about the year it was 1985. And I thought about you and my brother fishing together around that time.I sure do miss him. He would be so so proud of you. And so am I. I would love to hear some stories sometime.Buddy

Yea I love the bait. I used it in December on the Clark Fork River in Idaho. 8lb test Copolymer on a medium baitcaster and caught a lot of trout with it. Browns, Cutthroat, and a big Rainbow. Almost 6lbs. Green punkin' & Hot Snakes!!

Ive caught sauger, channel cat, flat head, drum, rock bass, largemouth, spots, red eye bass, white bass, and hybrid bass on ned rig. So much fun

Great vid Mr Gene! I ned rig fish probably 98% of the year. Never find that I want to go to other methods. Love the alternative suggestions on the other zoom type baits. I use several other small swim type baits by DOA as well (minnow colors) and find that they allow you to be pretty versatile - fish it like a normal ned, or swim jig retrieve. Catch lots of fish with the ned though. Always fun.

Thank You! I did the dental floss thing for my small jigs and gulp 1 inch minnows. The 1 inch baits would tear to pieces on a regular holder. They are just to small in diameter. Cutting off the factory holder and wrapping with floss is the charm.

Thanks for the video. The good old PB&J is what i caught my first bass on when i got back into fishing. I need to try that new merhod of setting the hook; because i lost so many fish i started to really send that hook and i noticed it was going in there eyes and just not pretty

I love me some ned rigs! Sometimes that's all I can get em to hit at Smith. By the way, you need to do a challenge one day and see if you can mop up at Smith lake (Alabama). That deep water can definitely be tricky. And the crappie can be a REAL challenge to find sometimes. When you get on them they're usually slab dawgs though. If anybody can do it, I know the machine can!

But in one video I heard you say you are related to Bill Dance (my former favorite) were you joking around or is that true? Since a kid I enjoyed Bill's programs as he was a great teacher. He's 2nd to you my friend, if not for this covid and my recently becoming disabled(13 surgeries) and I was a carpenter as yourself but I was an aluminum carpenter. The lips on that buffalo fish reminded me of a next door neighbor we used to have. Every time there would be a noise in the neighborhood, there would be that woman looking out her front window with her lips doing like that fish. She just had to see what was going on.

The man that owned Zoom Bait Co. lived over here in Georgia in Oconee County. All of my kids worked for him at one time. He got sick I think with heart problems. He died from a massive heart attack. He was A nice guy. His name was Ed Chambers. I think his boys are still making the Zoom baits. He made and designed a ton of different kinds rubber and plastic baits....... Just a little information that I thought I would share with you !!!!!!!!!!!! Here's to catching a bunch of fish !!!!!

I use the Zoom brand pumpkin pie colored crawfish like that and without a weight when the bass are in the shallow water . I use 6lbs. or 8lbs. No more than 10lbs.

Yellow braid. Blue magic marker about the last 4-5 feet. Turns it into perfect moss green. No leader. Great in a lot of waters.
