United Airlines faces possible FAA restrictions following safety incidents

CBS News has learned that federal regulators are considering placing temporary restrictions on United Airlines after concerning incidents over the last month, including a wheel falling off a 777 on takeoff in San Francisco and a jet sliding off the runway after landing in Houston.

"The airline is studying each of these incidences"...reminds me of H. Ross Perot as a board member of GM. He stated that if GM saw a rattlesnake in tis HQ, the first thing GM would do is appointment a committee to study the situation.

I’m glad the FAA is leaning into United. These days, everyone is talking about Boeing, but I don’t think Boeing is the problem in these cases. The other airlines are not experiencing these problems, which at the moment, are exclusive to United. It seems their operations are sloppy, and the CEO should be fired.

lol not really... flyers would simply go to its competitor at that point. You dont have grounds to raise prices when your reputation is being tarnished.

Lets just continue to contract maintenance to faa repair stations with people that have no licence over sea’s

Maybe if their CEO would put as much effort into maintenance as he does into cross dressing, they wouldn’t have these issues.

I'd rather fly on United, with the airplane falling apart one piece at a time, than fly on Spirit Airlines.

It’s the devastating loss of retiring baby boomers and lack of trained maintenance personnel that is the problem. You can not replace a 40 year veteran mechanic with a new graduate. Plus the pool of people to draw from is an all time low. Time to invest in technical training and not have our next generation waste $100,000 on worthless degrees for underwater basket weaving.
