This is the last 737 landing for United Airlines as shot from seat 14F. The flight was from LAX to SFO. Congrats to Captain Russo and I wish him well on his retirement!

Great video, the vid sets a strange mood of sadness and closure, with the sunset and the errie rumble of the engines, unlike many other videos where they play some stupid music in the background, I think you did a very good job of setting the mood.

I love the 737 classics! Nothing like that whine the flaps make!

United currently has many 737s in their fleet but they are all the newer NG models. Only the older style 737s were retired from United. Many went on to be scraped or parted out while most were re sold over seas or to cargo airlines. After United's merger with Continental, they reacquired many that are still being phased out. The 737 is the best airplane in the world :)

Most pilots retiring are happy about it and ready to enjoy life with their families.

I loved the Guppy very much, and was very upset I couldn't make at least 1 of the last flight legs. Thanks for this video.

I remember in 2001 flying the 737 from DEN to STL in August 2001. So many UA 737s back then....who would've imagined they'd all be retired in less than a decade. Definitely another time and another place back then....especially given what happened less than a month later.

I think he means the last Boeing 737-200 landing. United Airlines still operates B737's now in 2014.

Probably the last 737-300 series. You know what he means...

iPixel That's in part due to Continental-United merger. United didn't have anymore 737s prior to the merger.

United retired the 737 series before their merger with Continental. Then when the two airlines merged, the 737 series came back “Guess who’s back bitches?!” Lol

I've flown United over 365,000 miles in the last 4 years. Yes, they have their moments where they have failed miserably. However, I am really happy with the service I've received and the product they provide. I encourage you to give them a try and educate yourself before traveling on what to expect. Flying can be a great experience if planned properly.

Nice final landing, Bob, for you and the UAL 737-300. You greased her in!

@United737522 - I'm with you....Any airline can stink from time to time, but I really enjoy flying on United. Sometimes the fairs are a little steeper, but you get what you pay for. As a pilot, I appreciate the opportunity to listen in on the ATC (a United exclusive) and I respect United's INCREDIBLE safety record. Excellent airline - no doubt about it.

@SEAFREAK16 slowly integrating NG 737s? We have over 150 NGs and what, 37 classics? Most of our NG acquisitions weren't to replace classics, but to increase the size of the fleet. a -900 is not a replacement for a -500 or -300.

@bluepanther1011 Its called repositioning. Usually its done because later during the day that 744 is scheduled to do a long haul like SFO - RJAA or SFO-EGLL
@Jokerelli68713 жыл бұрын
@bluepanther1011 its set up that way to move those heavy aircraft between hubs for the next long flight. UAL has both KSFO and KLAX as hubs so they will send those big aircraft on that short of a flight to move the aircraft between hubs. Say a 74 lands in LAX from Australia then needs to depart SFO to head to ORD to connect to London. They can't taxi the whole way between airports ;)
@jezrelnyc200013 жыл бұрын
@bluepanther1011 I think they fly 747/777s and bigger jets to short flights like ORD-SFO, SFO-LAX, LAX-DEN and etc because they need the A/C at the other airport to be used for international flights. For example, I'm flying on UA's 777 from DEN to ORD this summer, a 2 hour flight, the 777 is probably going to be used for TATL flights from ORD that's why they fly it to ORD :)

@bluepanther1011 Number one, a B747 can not takeoff from San Diego and second, Continental and United have just merged meaning they will have B737-300, 400, 500, 700, 800, 900ER, B747, B757, B767, B777, B787, AIRBUS A319, A320, A350 and much more. And they are now the BIGGEST AIRLINE IN THE WORLD!!!
@CorporateJetpilot12 жыл бұрын
@SenorSpode That 100% is a 300. United never operated the 400 series, they only had the 200, 300, and 500. I can tell their difference by looking at the fuselage of the aircraft. The 300 does look a bit smaller The 500 is and looks alot wider and has a higher height then the 300. The 400 is longer then the 300 but the same height. If you look online or go to the airport and and are luck enough to find one you might be able to see the difference then.
