You are right in fact many times the US has a depression or recession they have had one as well. In the 1970s we had high stagflation kind of similar to what we do now and it affected many countries in the world UK and US included. The early 1920s was a horrible depression for the UK as well and in fact many countries were struggling paying off loans with the big one who never completed their loan payment until the early 2000s I believe being Germany. That was due to the destruction of ww1. Also after WW2 the US economy boomed but the UK did not at least not for a little bit. They entered a recession of sorts until Europe recovered. So Jack isn’t the most educated on the topic when it comes to his own country but honestly he knows more than most British teens it seems so I wouldn’t hold too much against him

For years, the government has been lowering interest rates, allowing companies to borrow money without much need to pay it back, and although this has led to short term growth, we've finally reached a point where it is no longer economically feasible to do so, and now inflation is rising faster than ever. And without equivalent wage increases, the average people are finding it harder and harder to keep up. To quote an article I read on housing prices over time, "The household median income in the U.S. in 1950 was $2,990 - roughly 40% of the median home value of $7,354 at the time, according to census data. By 2010, household median income was $49,445 - or 22% of the $221,800 median home value." It's pretty clear looking at this that it's getting harder for regular consumers to keep up, and I worry that all of these factors precipitate a further economic crash, which is likely still beginning. I mean just recently, a lot of grocery stores raised their prices, while the actual employees of these stores saw no respective wage increase. If you just look at it on the surface level, everything in the US seems to be functioning, but the deeper information is much more concerning, and this doesn't even address my concerns when it comes to things like individual political rights
