He should perform to stop people from doubting him unlike jogging every other game he should learn from Maguire who didn't tweet or post anything about the criticism he faced because he knew that he didn't play well now he's not the same anymore he's improved a lot.

This is nothing compared to what Maguire faced, when he stepped on the pitch though you could still see that he was still trying his best and wanted to help the team, he was a meme on every social even made fun of in other countries yet his attitude and body language screamed positive, he remained committed to the cause, i think that’s the problem with rashford, his body language is sulky, don’t care, his lack of commitment is why people are upset with him, everybody handles pressure differently but when you’re paid the big bucks to represent a club like United, you have to have a elite mindset, my respect for Maguire grows every day seeing how rashford is struggling to cope

Not every player is a Maguire. In all EPL squads l can point out a good player who is doing terribly but it is only in united that players are critiqued to the point it is abuse. Every season united has a scapegoat and this season's was Rashford. I agree he is in terrible form but his heart is no longer her unfortunately. Honestly this is not the first season he has been abused so l feel that Ten Hag has made him his target behind the scenes

@@user-zc2sz1os3j Mate, not even a nine-to-fiver can reason with their employee for a year of low performance. I prefer he takes a year off like Ben Simmons, a basketball player who is supposed to be the next big thing and struggles with mental health. The way Rashford and his buddies act in their low point are putting their careers at stake, Lingard might be the one I will go easy on as he tried hard on the pitch, and Ole's tactics were doing him dirty. Also, the expectation is related to your price tag. Maguire and Antony didn't asked for being a 80-90 millions players, they get trashed for poor performance. Don't ask for the salary if you can't offer the same performance.

We as a fanbase, need to ask ourselves if we create an environment where the players feel comfortable being Man Utd players. That even if they have a slump or poor form, they know that we (the fanbase) will back them till they get back. The truth is we haven't and it's gotten worse and we need to fix that. As the club itself is starting a new phase with INEOS coming in, maybe we as fans should do the same.

Most reasonable comment here. United fans have become extremely toxic and reactionary. A couple matches ago, I saw loads of people slanting Bruno and asking him to be binned in the summer. Now after the Sheffield match they’re okay with him again. If there’s a drop off once more, they’ll again start targeting him. I imagine a player who’s thinking of transferring to united would regularly see the way we treat our players and maybe second guess his decision to join.

The dude needs to stop paying so much attention to social media honestly, his agent, family and friends do to. High profile people will always get criticism spoken about them. What separates the true stars from everyone else is that they use that as motivation to prove everyone wrong inspite of it. In life you can't say why me!?, unless you also say it when you get paid millions and get all the trappings of being a star. Life is ying yang, the dark within the light and light within the dark, there is no perfect, there is no joy without hardship. Get on with it mate! I was his big supporter, but I get passed off seeing him jog around the pitch for 90min. Everything he does on the pitch and off the pitch shows that he doesn't care about his game and there seems to be no consequences at all. This kind of behaviors will affect the rest of the team's mindset, specially the young players. I think we the fans had ENOUGH.

I think he forgot to mature as a player. He's been brilliant at times and had a great streak last season, but I can't remember him being good and dependable all season. Maturing as an attacking player is not about highs but about upping the lows. At 26 with 8 years PL under the belt he shouldn't have really poor matches or streaks anymore.

I don't think he's matured as a person either. There's no accountability on his behalf imo it just seems like excuses and PR stunts. Rashford isn't the only human that has had to deal with bereavements in life. If he's so fragile mentally then he should maybe take some time of "work" take Statutory Sick Pay or something.

There has been some abuse thrown at him, however the majority of what he has recived is justified criticism. He understands the world of social media, his actions this season along with his perormance are a large reason for the small amount of abuse. Think its best for him and united to part ways. I hope he finds passion for the game again but don't see it at united

Brilliant point at what point does critique become abuse. Considering he has come from humble backgrounds, his mentality is fragile. I’d argue so many more players have received worse (and sometimes unwarranted) critiques. He needs to get a reality check

In my opinion, Becks was THE prime example of a player who was being truly bashed and abused after the '98 WC. Yet he managed to shut down his critics and become the captain of the national team. If Rashford is not equiped to deal with high level of scrutiny, then he will never become an elite footballer. He'll be 27 this October, so he's reaching his peek age but the consistency and mental toughness is still not there. Sadly, he's not the player for the squad to be built around him. He's clearly frustrated (with United, himself or both) and I think we should bid farewell if the right opportunity comes this summer. It seems that both parties are stuck with each other so let's not drag this along any further. Fresh start is needed both for him and for the club.

I think we need a new United, players lose form but it seems beyond that for Marcus, to go a whole season and hardly offer anything, and youth players coming in that have not long since left school are outshining him means there is something fundamentally wrong. Most comments I see is criticism but maybe Rashford views criticism as abuse, some players constantly have reasons for not delivering, I think that is Marcus. I think this summer he should be sold because for me it's about the club and we need a new United

Funny he never tweeted anything last year when everyone was cheering and supporting him. But when it comes to criticism, he blames the fan for being abusive. And now you expect me to appreciate how you play for the club? Enough is enough! Time to leave

I find it amazing how they enjoy the life, the money, the material things, the influence it all brings but when they lose form the criticism, which is 100% deserved in Marcus’ case, is abuse. What happened to mental strength, to harder training put yourself into hard times to get it back, uncompromising reflection that it’s not good enough, strive for excellence…….. all this is missing and Marcus’ comments just means he’s feeling sorry for himself……. Not a united character and needs to go to psg. He’s a big part of the problem at the club I love

I’m seriously tired of these princesses. Every week this guy earns a life changing amount of money for most people, yet he can’t seem to muster any passion for the club and game. Him and Sancho unquestionably have a lot of talent, but so many guys like these just don’t have the head for it. I have to say Ten Hag is a deluded wet lettuce too, how he can put the same tactics out every week and expect this group of players to all of a sudden make it work, is beyond me. Happy to see Ten Hag and Rashford go in the summer. The under 18’s would have finished higher than the first team this year.

You mentioned Harry Maguire. An interesting comparison to Rashford. Maguire has absolutely slaughtered on social media and heavily criticised in the msm. I was one of his biggest critics at the start of the season wishing he had agreed to the offer from West Ham. However Maguire has proved a real asset to United in this dismal season, and he has won my upmost respect. He has proved himself a man, and showed character and determination. I really wish Rashford would do the same, but frankly I’m not optimistic

It’s not that he’s “not playing well” it’s that he is lazy as fck and clearly does not give a damn about playing football for United. He has shown over and over again that he’s not at the level of playing for United, yet he’s our highest paid player, been 8 seasons at the club and he’s had one good half season last year plus the sporadic sparkles of brilliance here and there, but overall a frustrating player to watch.

If you wanna talk about “abuse” let’s talk about what Pogba, Ronnie and Maguire got. The first two are in the top 3 most abused athletes in the world across all sports (Lebron James is No.1). Maguire got bomb threats. But Marcus and his people want to label valid criticism as abuse? This makes me even more desperate for him to leave out the door. Not saying he should get abused, but mislabelling his clear lack of application as “abuse” is just sinister. GET OUT!

That's why he's our only winger that ETH doesn't have to coach during games. This "he doesn't track back and he doesn't defend" thing is just something people say now no matter what.

Everyone blamed Maguire for everything, even Shaw was out of position, Lindelof was poor at 1v1 and header and DDG was poor passer. All of them contributed to Maguire's poor performance. Everyone blamed McTominay for everything, even it is how ETH's tactic utilise two 8s, the counter attack often started from a careless mistake at the winger position. Everyone clowned Onana online for his mistake. See where are they now? Maguire arguably is the best player this season. McTominay saved United a few times this season, and having personal best season. Onana is much better now. How much abuse that Rashford received is actually abuse, or they are just criticism, even though some are not well-written.

Rashford has not even be abused. We’ve be so patient with him as a fanbase, the criticism he has received this season is more than fair, and he’s not the only player that’s been criticised. I mean Jamie said Casemiro looks like a soccer aid player not long ago. The moment rash leaves united, that’s when it will dawn on him, cause other clubs won’t be as patient with him. Look at lingard now, can’t even get a game in Korea.
