Chris, As someone who is visually disabled, my heart went out to you when you lost your glasses and couldn't see. Traveling by yourself and not speaking the language. Man, the anxiety must have been pretty high. As the video went on, I was praying that you'd find the extra pair and was so relieved that you did. I believe it's in part because of all the positivity you put into the world

@@blahblahblah9487 Not really at the cheapest price (which is roughly 50$ for exam, frame and lens!!!) but if you're willing to go up a little they got some fun stuff. J!NS and Zoff are some chains I've seen recommended and they had some nice ones. I think one of them had pretty cheap simple frames with a little Doraemon on the inside of the arms so that was neat. I'm seriously thinking of getting some while I'm there myself.

Chris, regarding your glasses, I use to work at the Jurassic Park ride in Universal Studios (Hollywood). Have you notified Guest Services about your glasses? The ride ops clean the ride track nightly and retrieve lost items from the water. Universal will send it to you wherever you're headed to next. If you've not yet reached out to them, it's not too late to do so.

Yes I am curious too if you asked an employee about your glasses as well.Japan is well known for returning lost items. JINS or Zoff are chains of eyeglass shops where you might get a replacement pair made quickly and very inexpensive compared to the states. Good luck on the rest of your journey.

Hey Chris, just to let you know if you're still in Japan and need another pair of glasses at any point - there are SUPER speedy spectacle shops over there that can get you tested AND your glasses ready in 30 minutes. You walk in, pick out a pair of frames, head to the counter/shop assistant and get a ticket for an optometrist to see you. They do a test and then get your lenses cut for the frames you chose IMMEDIATELY, and the whole process at the most takes an hour if you've got astigmatism or need special lenses. They even offer lenses that cut out blue light, or ultra thin lenses for an extra fee! Generally, the eye test is included in the price of the frames too! The big chains are JINS, Zoff, Megane Ichiba... a quick google will help find the closest one to you, but they're in most malls/shopping areas! No worries about language barrier for the eye test too, the Japanese tests usually use a circle with a hole and you just point out the direction of the hole :) All the best on your travel endeavours!

There's several options for getting new glasses if you lose your glasses in Japan. You can go into a Japanese optometrist, have an eye exam, and buy new glasses. It only takes a few hours on average to get the lenses to your prescription, and prices average 5000 yen (about $50) to 9000 yen ( $90). You may also be able to get over the counter or second-hand glasses in Japan. Of course the ideal solution is to take several pairs of glasses on vacation or business trip, you can score several pairs online for just $20 to $70, depending on which site you buy from and the model, lens embellishments, etc you get. Not to mention multiple companies make and sell emergency glasses that let you adjust the lens power, though this option isn't very viable for those with stronger prescriptions.
