Not really. I think his father didn't want his son to walk the same path as he does. He wanted his son to study, use his brain and not brawn. Like a blue collar father not wanting his son to turn out like him, but to go to college and use his head to make a living.

in a previous scene you saw the master able to break a slab of concrete with that downward strike, he could have done that to his opponent but stopped.

This movie is called "iron palm strike" in traditional kung fu, is not just a slap, you can see Shaolin monks learning that technique and if you master it can be very dangerous, you need first to make your palm hard as stone.

His dad doing the right thing.. The kid so arrogant picking lot of fight end up making his wife n daughter slaughtered.. Later before his last breath he relize why his dad stop and lose

@@lastboss2418 Was he born arrogant? No. He grew up that way because he was weak and bullied. This turned into a traumatic experience that he used to motivate himself to become the strongest and obsess over "never losing again". After he got stronger, he became the bully (and eventually killer) as a result of this. Once again, the root of this problem is due to the failure of the father to educate the child. He should have taught him how to both defend himself and show restraint. Instead he berated and punished him if he so much as LOOKED at anything martial art related. Hell you said it yourself. He had to learn why his father didn't fight and he didnt figure it out UNTIL HIS DEATHBED. That is something the father should have taught him when his kid was young!

Warlord, u r both right and wrong. At one level, his dad's actions held him back, but that was due to his pride and ignorance. Towards the end, it was his dad's benevolence (and his eventual understanding of it) that elevated him to greatness.

MMA is good martial art but a Kung Fu film can give you more than a real MMA figh on UFC, movies like the fearless and Ip Man can give you emotions and motivate you to learn and do things, the one is made for the enjoyment for people who likes raw violence, the other is made to teach you something more than watching a fight.

The movie doesn't try to make you think that kung fu is better than mma or anything else, you need to watch the movie to understand. Also techniques like that can be deadly but performed by real masters and Shaolin monks. The modern kung fu isn't like that.

Don't compare everything with MMA, a good kung fu film can give you more than a MMA tournament can, both can't teach you how to fight by only watching them but at least Kung Fu movies like fearless has a message to deliver and a meaning.

Nah, what are you talking about? Lol. There was this Chinese MMA fighter who challenged ANY Chinese martial arts master to a fight. He wanted to expose the fake kung-fu masters. Most of them are fake. Like high 90%. There was this rich Chinese billionaire who set a bounty that any master who wins a fight against this MMA fighter will win a million dollars or something. All to defend the name of kung-fu. No one got that bounty. That MMA fighter got threaten by the CCP, lost his job, his life ruined, all because he wanted to expose the fake kung-fu. He stuck to his morals tho.

Kung fu is the original mma but you have probably not been exposed to anything close to what that is. I'm saying this as someone who has fought mma.

To expand the market the movie can make money and be enjoyed in. Dubbed movies make more money and get a wider audience than subtitled movies do.

The mother tried to teach the son the philosophy. It did not work.

Plus there is a difference between embodying a philosophy and actually being able to articulate it. Just because you know something on the level of intuition does not mean you are aware of it enough to articulate it to others.

No I think you guys got it all wrong. Think of it like a modern setting. The shoe cobbler doesn't want his son to follow his footsteps, pun unintended. He wants his kid to study and use his head to make a living. Turns out the kid is really good at fixing shoes. Dad can't stop kid from pursuing his passion. Kid grows up, is really good at it. Doesn't understand his dad's teaching. In the end he does.
