Take a look behind the garden gates at a piece of U.P. history: a 70-year-old catalpa tree that Dani Griswold is carefully tending to and preserving. The tree is the centerpiece of the courtyard at the “35 House,” a mid-century architectural classic. The home’s open sight lines provide views of both the front and back yards. Beautiful planting beds of colorful perennials provide fresh flowers for the home’s guests, while the courtyard is the perfect place for entertaining, especially when the catalpa tree is fully leafed out in late summer, providing full shade to the entire space.
Dani’s garden is another stop on this year’s U.P.
