Translational medicine and things like access to food matter a great deal. In my neighborhood, a new grocery store went in. There were trees and land there before. There were more houses built and it made sense, the roads being used needed to be expanded or haven’t been yet. The impact fees and transportation of roads gets eased a bit because the families don’t have to drive as far to get food… but the transportation needs aren’t really dictated right… but families need a car to get anywhere… but, what about public transportation or increasing walkability around that store? Issues of control, governance, research care, reimbursement….. these spheres elevate quickly. We need to work with better honesty and kindness and increase understanding and privacy, transparency and proper oversight.
