I've had a royal navy pilot issue, katadyn, reverse osmosis desalinator for years . It's much smaller than this quenchsea and you squeeze it together with both hands or place it on a solid surface and pump in one handed . They both only produce 1,000 liters before the membrane needs replacing.

It can be a bummer if you don't take fresh water with you and the device suddenly stops working.

Katadyn makes several desalinators like the Survivor06 and Survivor35 . There was a US military issue one that was similar to the Survivor35 but had a square body and was a bit shorter(black with yellow embosed markings, if anyone remembers comment). They're much more than $130 though- like they say" Everything costs more when it's for a boat!"

We used to have a massive reverse osmosis thing. But it was cemented to the ground and I had no idea where to get new parts. It was a whole house thing. Even purified the shower water.

1. This pump should look like a balance: You step on it, and let gravity do the work. 2. What happens to the membrane, when it gets "bad"? Are the micropores get clogged? Could it be possible to get those micropores clean, by pumping some desalinated water in the opposite direction?

Yeah, its me again. LOL. That being just in existance is a huge impact. Especially along Floridas intercoastal waterways. Now if someone can come up with a backpackable version. Oddly brotherman, my buddys and I were discussing that very thing a few years back. I"am glad some one brought it to fruition. " Semper Fi!"

The brine is ejected out a side port and all that is left is clean delicious water :)

Fresh water maybe only be 3% however access to this 3% is easier. You don't have to travel to the edge the country. It's in the creeks, rivers, lakes, ponds and even the rain storms.

Cool product, does it have a "tray" where one dumps out the salt? Also, as far as fresh water for the World. In Africa they sh*t on the beaches (not joking -Liberia) and throw trash all over waterways as if they are landfills. Does it filter dangerous bacteria etc?

no but you can simply attach a bottle to the brine port and collect it like that. from what I understand it filters EVERYTHING.

'Getting millions of them out to ppl all over the world would be fine and good....IF they didn't only last 6-12 months before they need a new filter! How are ppl going to get filters if the world has gone to 💩?! What we need is a system that works based on sunlight and evaporation.....i think......

oiling salt water will sterilize it, but won’t remove the salt.

You can get distilled water by condensing vapor though.

@@GTI8855 setting up a still is more cumbersome and dangerous. This simply requires you to operate a pump for a few minutes and you have drinkable water.

Launch a high altitude balloon. You'll see for yourself. Just because you haven't seen something yourself, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. If you believe in flat earth and all that crap, please don't have kids and feel free to make your time here as short as possible.

Horrible's video in demonstrating of the pump. You should have filled at least half of the bottle to demonstrate how long would it take. I'm not believing your opinion off one little drop of water
