Why does it sound harsh? Because you are speaking about a woman? If it were her husband who cheated and left the family, you probably wouldn't think it was harsh to say that his wife should have left him.

At the end, it's still give ME a hug, not let me give you a hug. She says this twice, each to the 2 men she hurt most. Husband is there but the look in his eye so very apprehensive. Mom was determined to draw ex back into the old, despite Iyanla's strong contradiction, telling by the way she grabs his hand. Mom returned home for her own need, not really anyone else's, hoping to receive love with nothing real to offer.

So many times in my life I've seen that the "grass isn't always greener" on the other side. We have to learn how NOT to covet what belongs to someone else: another man's wife, another woman's husband, your neighbor's big beautiful house, someone else's career, or their luxury boat and cars, etc., etc. We have to learn how to be content with our OWN blessings and not be envious of the blessings that belong to someone else, having nothing to do with us. What we are often not taught/told is that when we covet another person's blessings, we are also unwittingly coveting their curses too; curses that can not be seen from the curbside or with the naked eye looking in from the outside. I do not want another man's CURSE. I want peace to remain in my soul. I don't want anyone else's family. I love and am thankful to God for my own.

Applause to you! I’ve gone through the same process. This isn’t a judgement but a I wish that they would statement. So many people won’t allow the process of self analyzing and cleansing to take place. And I think with many they just aren’t aware that this is needed for healing, peace and understanding in life. What many people do is think that they can just do certain behaviors. For example people think that they can just “act” like a Christian. They think that they can just start being like Christians by going to Church, Stop doing certain behaviors. And then they end up wrestling with those urges to do all the things that they just tried to stop doing. Because you haven’t been delivered and you haven’t really done the work on self. You just think you can do it because you will yourself to. Nope! It doesn’t work like that. But the work on self is really needed by us ALL. Blessings to you!

Iyanla does such a great job at what she does, no wonder she's a lawyer, a healing coach. She fixed many people's lives to see the big picture by showing the truth and not hiding it. After watching this episode, everyone can see the big picture here. She was a young person, single mom, married to a man she wasn't attracted too. She didn't want to live in a small town like that because she has a big city type heart and personality. She wants her life different than the typical small town wife life. So she left, because she needed to find herself in the process because she knew she didn't want life there and with the man. But she wanted to come back into their lives hopping in and out so she doesn't lose them permanently. It's a selfish move and emotional wreck she placed on her and her children but she knows all along she cannot live her life in a small town like that, and she wasn't attracted to him as a husband, and life partner thats why they were divorced. I look at her, she wasn't willing to give up her dream, her lifestyle, her vision, to live a life there.

@ 15:50 there was so much tension and hurt and anger that her husband had that you can almost see it. That really got me feeling emotional on their behalf because it's like they did not want to say or express what was going on inside.

I'm sorry but she should just leave and move on. Those three guys are great and their father is a good man but he deserves a better woman than her. Her past has made her manipulative and her kids are hurting because of it.

Ok this one was hard for me to watch. This mother is the most manipulative person I have ever watched! She has these two amazing boys and the husband that she leaves. Only to return to dryly ask for forgiveness and to be let back in to their lives? She is so lacking in emotion and putting on for the cameras. She is incredibly undeserving of their forgiveness and their love and support. I am so angry for her boys and the husband!!!! I would NEVER let her back into the realm of possibility to be able to hurt those boys again. She is a shame. My heart aches for her oldest son.

This woman is lying about everything, including her childhood abuse very likely. I get the strong sense she said that to deceive Iyanla and to paint herself as the victim who ought not be blamed for anything she has done. Pure callous manipulation and narcissism.

33:20 ish point when iylana explains why the mom yells and berates her son, she says "she couldn't give you what she didn't have"... and I feel like I want her to do an entire series on that. It fascinates me to the point that I honestly don't believe it when she says "I didn't realize I was to you the way my mother was to me"... I wish I could say "what did you think? When you punched him, yelled and put him down - what did you honestly think was going on? You were breaking patterns?" I just don't get it. I think ppl do know. They just don't. Because it's hard. It's too simplified to say "you can't give what you've never had" because that's just not true.... I never had the love I give my son today, I had to do SO much self work to get here - giving him unconditional love, a love I never experienced. I know it's hard, because I'm doing it.

But thats the point she didn't know what she wasn't taught AND never attempted to teach herself so she could be better fkr her kids. Like you are. Denial is a strong jail for the mind. I am in self healing now but my daughter is 11 my son is 5. And I see patterns from my own mother and not because I wanted to be that way but because I had that learned behavior. I specifically said I wouldn't do things my mom did but here I am. Without that self awareness and desire to change and want to heal, it's pointless. The human mind is just so complicated especially how you are made through your experiences and trauma.

That's exactly the point. You're able to offer your kids love because you worked on yourself and found a new way of being so you're able to offer something different. She couldn't offer something she didn't have. Her cup wasn't empty but it was filled with rage and anger so that's what poured out.
