David Pawson shows that there is sunshine in Jeremiah as well as cloud. David identifies with the author and he shows why this book should be read and studied. We are helped to understand Jeremiah the man because he reveals his heart and his own struggles. David looks at the situation the prophet addressed, he examines the man himself (for instance, he was a lover of nature), looking at his background; and also his method of communication. He didn’t simply speak his messages, but sometimes acted them out. Like other prophets, he had to warn his people that, because of their sins, God was going to bring judgment upon them. He suffered for his message - the Jews call him the weeping prophet. Although the prophet called the people to repentance to save themselves, they refused to heed the message. One vital aspect of this talk is to hear David explain the true meaning of God as the potter and human beings as the clay. Jeremiah sometimes spoke in poetry, bringing out the feelings of God. Despite the doom and gloom, there is promise of a New Covenant with God. David says we need Jeremiah’s messages today.
David also has a book on this series find out more here: www.davidpawson.co.uk/search/...

Praise God for David Pawson. Anyone listening to him in August 2021. One of my favorite lessons - "When God speaks in prose, He is communicating His thoughts from His mind to your mind, but when God speaks in poetry, He is communicating His heart to your heart"

This is really speaking to me today . I was feeling a bit down and useless , i wondered if i was an ugly pot to be thrown away . Then the Lord brought back a word he had given me 15 years ago , that i am an ameythist being shaped out of the rock . It has to be chipped out of the rock and then facetted to reflect the light and sparkle and then polished . Thankyou Lord , and David for bringing this back to me . I pray i can shine for you . K

Although I cannot help but wonder that God made the clay too, God created everything. While we all have free will, I often wonder that all clays were made different...of course I know we have free will but we are made a differently so not all clay are the same.

ABBA Father* Do you know the apostles directly ask Jesus what to call God and how to pray to him? Well you say "Father who art in heaven " you do not need to sound fancy and say it how they did or God would of never made everyone's languages different thay day at the tower of Babel so if God wanted you to be born Hebrew to speak hebrew or Greek well you would of been born in that background.
@eilzed
@eilzed 4 жыл бұрын
@@YeshuaCameAndGaveUsLifeandLove maybe it's comfortable to call the Father Abba. I call him that sometimes and I don't feel like it's fancy. It rolls off my tongue in love and adoration. Many argue over the correct name but I know that a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet. I call Him beloved, Jesus Christ, Yahusha Hamashiach and Yeshua. He knows our hearts. May God bless and keep you. Shalom or peace in many languages still says the same thing. I like to learn other languages....shalom.

Interesting, Jeremiah is the longest book of the Bible at 33,002 words. Then Genesis, Psalms, Ezekiel, Exodus, Isaiah. For all his words, Jeremiah never had a convert in 47 years of ministry. The closest he got were the princes in ch. 36 who in fear of the Lord's words tried to get King Jehoiakim to listen, but he wouldn't.

So God can change his mind? But numbers says he cannot change his mind? Please correct me I don't understand.
@DavidPawsonBahasaIndonesia
@DavidPawsonBahasaIndonesia 7 ай бұрын
Its one of those very difficult questions - and David is not around now to answer Numbers 32:14 is very clear God did "relent" and as such changed his decision Yet Moses does record earlier in Numbers 23:19: “God is not human that he should lie - not a human being that he should change his mind NIV . What we cannot deny is that this is what the Word of God says .............so how can they both be true ? I can only offer my own understanding - if we start with the fact God did change his mind and He relented - what does Numbers 23:19 actually say Firstly it is a comparison - it is comparing God with Human standards and God is not like a human being - we all know human beings lie, and they blow in the wind with views, feelings and changing their mind That is not God !- so this verse is true, I - ts not so much that God never changes his mind what is true is God character is not like Human beings ! I believe God is unchanging and consistent - the reliable "rock of ages" 0 the same yesterday , today and forever - he does not change his mind .......except .......... I believe the only time God has ever changed his mind - and it is the exception not the rules is through the prayer of a righteous man So if God changes his mind its not because he is unreliable its because a righteous man has persuaded him The second point is whether God has changed his mind OR - delayed, held back his judgement at the request of someone God would considered "righteous". Is there a difference or are we just arguing over the choice of words ? God may not have wiped out the Jews then in Numbers 23 .....but God did not allow them into the promised land until that generation had been replaced - he kept them in the wilderness for 40 years a complete generation Every Israelite over twenty years of age when they left Egypt under Moses' leadership died, except for three people: Moses, Joshua, and Caleb (see Numbers 14:38). All the others had died without realising their cherished blessing and only Joshua and Caleb entered the promised land from those who left Egypt - so did God change his mind - or did he delay ? It is a change of mind if he delayed but God is just and certainly not like humans he never lies ......and he does not change his mind as human do - only through the prayer of a righteous man The Bible is not a science book - its not black and white - its about 'who' and 'why' Its about God and where there are exceptions to his unchanging character, - its 'why' he changed his mind or delayed his plan

I understand what he was trying to say but his response about the clay is confusing. Clay in itself can not make decisions so how can it refuse? He needs to preface that the clay is a metaphor for humankind.

Speak to a potter - some clay can be moulded some cannot and a potter will literally through away Clay that cannot be moulded - yes it is also a metaphor but its also real - clay is not living and makes discussions but some clay just cannot be moulded
