This drama and a detective drama called "MIU404" that aired on the same tv network in 2020 (same Friday night time-slot; delayed a year by Covid) were a set, by the same production team including director and writer. Some of the plot-lines of "MIU404" were extensions of those of "Unnatural", apparently. I didn't watch "Unnatural" and saw just a little of "MIU404". If anything, the latter drama received more awards. A film titled "The Last Mile", out in the summer, by the same director and writer (both women), will be based on the two series, it seems. Speaking of musician Kenshi Yonezu (with whom I'm more familiar than either drama), he did the ending theme for "MIU404" and will do the theme for the upcoming film. To me he very much represents the 21st-century music scene in Japan: started out in vocaloid, became huge on y t and other plats, has done anime, tv, and film themes, and has done work in visuals as well as music. Speaking generally, considering its enormous club scene, the many doujins and vocaloid groups, the innumerable collabs and tie-ups among the manga, anime, game, tv, film, and music industries, there can't be another country with the variety/diversity of music-related entertainment Japan has.

Ah! Makes sense. MIU404 was on my list (my wife is a fan) but I haven't gotten to it yet and didn't know there was a connection. Thanks for the info!

I’m on Episode 8, and I immediately recognize Kube’s dad as….Nagata from Spielberg’s Empire Of The Sun, the Japanese officer with the most interaction with Jim (Christian Bale). He hadn’t aged that much. If you saw that movie, you would immediately recognize him 😊

I haven't seen that movie since it first came out! I'll have to watch it again.

Oh damn! I've had that opening song ("Lemon") in my playlist for a long time, but I never really knew the show it came from. Definitely going to check it out now!

I swear to god, this man sounds like he's overqualified to review songs or TV shows. The way he expresses his thoughts is something else. Another incredible video, Mr. Hartley. Always a delight to see how you analyze things. You got a way with words, that’s for sure.

Ow, you should lower the volume after 10:02 or put a warning for those with heart disease ^^

Yeah, sorry. Thought I had turned it down enough, but it's still a bit loud, and KZfaq doesn't let you edit volume after upload. Good song though :)

Sounds interesting; I'll put it on my Netflix list. It seems my plans to cut back screen time drastically are not going to work out ;-) .
