Today's my birthday, I'm away from my grandchildren and I am missing them terribly. Decided I would watch GA, have a cup of coffee with Laura and spruce my mood. Well, wouldn't you know today's video had sweet little Benjamin in it and I'm telling you I literally “laughed out loud!!” When Laura asked how he would keep her from stepping on the sweet potatoes and he threw his arms open and said, “like this,” as to block her path and then said, “stop, stop, stop!” I couldn't help myself! Laura your energy, knowledge, and mindfulness of gardening is a true gift. You and Aaron are owning IT! I love what you guys are doing. So many projects with great information. I garden in the Mississippi Delta, as different as our zones are, it amazes me how I can still learn. We have high humidity and basically 2 seasons, summer and winter.

I love a to-do list and checking things off! I'd also love to have an area like that to pot up plants and start seeds. If I had that sun porch I'd have to find a way to spend more time there. Benjamin is precious! I am so glad you take the time to help him and teach him correct ways of doing things. I'm always impressed with your patience. The chaise lounge can be pushed to the wall and used as a comfy seating bench. Place pillows to the back on the lounge to make it a pretty supportive mini sofa. Voila! The wonky lamp needs new hardware/ maybe a new shade. Also, if you place the chaise lounge against the far window wall (if it fits or center it on another wall) then arrange the green metal chairs on either side, it will make a good conversational area. Then arrange the plants. Place the round table in front of the lounge for drinks/snack books, etc. One more suggestion: that pillar table is beautiful and could be place on the far window wall, while the lounge is against the house window wall. Seeing the pillar table on the far wall will be an exceptional picturesque place for the plants to adorn it. More voila!!

I think it’s nice that you have your own Montessori school! I was home while my daughter was young. We did tons of activities and I didn’t send her to preschool and never regretted it. They were wonderful years. Enjoy every moment because it passes so quickly! Love your videos! 😊

I’m not a gardener at all but I love watching garden answer :). I’m a total indoor house plant person so when Laura talks about house plants it makes me just that much more happy 😊. Plus Benjamin and russel are an added bonus when they make appearances they are too cute

Great watching you and Benjamin discuss the moving of the potatoes. Great parenting. Teaching children to analyze and decide why and why not to do something helps them in the future to make more important decisions. So much better parenting than " because I said so " It is quicker to say that but it is not a teaching or a learning experience for the child. Discussion is good not just an "I told you so" Discussion is so much harder parenting. I still noticed though that you had the last word and took control when it was time for him to make a decision. It shows you are willing to discuss with him why you are asking this of him., but ultimately you need him to do what you asked. Keep up the great work. Tab Kerwin

To the best of my knowledge the kumquat was mislabeled. The citrus you have is probably trifoliate orange Citrus trifoliata (commonly used as a rootstock) wich is hardy down to zone 6 so it may survive for you outside in protected location. I love your content it is very inspiring.

I wish I had a plant/studio room! Right now I use my kitchen dining area as a planting area, craft area & of course an eating area! Oh - the area is also used as a coffee time place for my hard working farmers! Benjamin is so cute, treasure these moments!! He will either love plants when he grows up or live in a house with an all gravel lawn lol. You are such a sweet, patient mom. Your kids are so lucky to have parents like you and your husband.

Hilariously Benjamin is trying to defend his postion regarding his own view arrangement of the sweet potatoes. I am sure he will be a great lawyer if he choose to be. In my opinion the sunny porch becomes the most cosy part of the house in winter, and since there is enough space, I would expand it by double or triple the size to fit all family besides more plants and can be accessed from inside home by replacing the existing window by a sliding glass door. You will get more space and definitely more sun light to inside your home.

Benjamin's stories remind me of the stories my Sam would tell me when he was that age. He was also notorious for lining up anything and everything into neat rows. He's now nearing 20 because I blinked too long. My youngest was watching this with me saying, "Mom, you taught us how to plant just like how she's teaching Benjamin." You will be surprised at how much kids retain from the lessons we teach them.🥰😌🪴

When you say “ ...once a week watering schedule...” is that 1) put in the sink and water until it is draining out the bottom, or 2) add 1/2 cup water to top, or 3) add 1cup water to top. I started watching you when COVID hit, and because of your enthusiasm and inspiration, I designed a small garden space around my patio, tackled growing seeds indoors with grow light and winter seed sowing.
