Good question! The brand is registered in England. The manufacturing is taking place in China (as far we know). The once English owner went bankrupt and VERTU brand died with it for a short while. Since several years now, two Turkish and Chinese investirs bought the brand and brought it back to life.

Imagine the places where you come... At the carnaval park people wouldn't notice. At a luxury place as a Rolls-Royce dealership, haute cuisine or a high fashion street in Dubai, people will notice. It's just the place where you'll be. Depends who you ask, because VERTU as a brand is quite known as a brand from Nokia in the old days.

Absolutely Precise Answer. I am a Chinese investor who invests Metallurgical factories in South Africa and I am using One Metavertu Racer limited 18+1T（CNY 32800 or 4600usd）and One Metavertu 2 Black Leather 12+512 (CNY 29800 or 4186usd) now and there are lots of Chinese businesspersons in China mainland or overseas who use standard Metavertu 1 or 2 or signature V or even the customized luxury editions, but NOBODY use the iVertu which looks like a toy. By following the national regulation we cannot normally access Google applications on Huawei cellphones and Samsung is unreliable in China as well, do not even mention the potential risks by using iPhone, so Metavertu series is the appropriate option to us who have had to use Android but not these cheap thing could be seen everywhere. Furthermore, the concept of Web 3.0 is very good for us, our privacy could be guaranteed compared to these using Web 2.0 currently, even though it may not mature enough. There are 50 Metro-cities in China mainland and I know that there are at least 1 Vertu authorized dealer in each city and the users enjoy the services and feelings brought by Vertu China. It is certainly Worthless or Expensive for those who earn 500usd each month by selling their labour . @@PhoneBucks Or maybe in simple words: We pay maybe 1500usd for the hardware and 3000usd for the latest services which could protect our privacy.

Thank you for your input. Our professional opinion: it's got more similarities with a high and ZTE. But then: it's all about the brand, software (meta space) and exclisivity. If you want to meet just the specs, than a high end ZTE would do the job as well.

So you actually bought one? We guess not... Otherwise this comment wasn't there. Exterior of the phone is great + it's still a VERTU phone. Why buy a Hermes handbag of 50,000 USD, when you also can buy a textile bigshopper for 2 USD from the grocery market? It's all about what someone want to show to another what they can afford and what not. We are not judgemental about that, but some others would buy it for the brand and most likely you wouldn't - and bless you for making your own choices.

Thank you so much for taking the effort to write a comment! It's not just an Android phone. You could compare the VERTU brand to Hermes, Prada, Chanel, etc. Same question: why would someone pay 40.000$ for a handbag... it's fashion, not 'just a bag'. VERTU is not 'just a phone'.

Like almost all tech (and chargers) these days... Yes: made in China. Sometimes tech is "made in China", but assembly is in another country, so manufacturers can say "made in (other country)", meanwhile tech itself is from Chinese manufacturers 😉 It wouldn't say it's bad tech though

I understand your comment, but this is not comparable to any Samsung, Apple or other brand. Vertu is placed as brand comparable to D&G, Chanel, Prada, Hermes, etc. The most expensive Samsung will still not be a Vertu phone, but maybe the Samsung could make better pictures. You can compare it like this: when you buy a Rolls-Royce, you know it's not the fastest car in the world, and maybe a BMW is faster (or maybe even 'better'), but it's still a Rolls-Royce. It's two different levels in the same 'world' (it's both cars, but never on each others level). That is suitable for Vertu too.

@@PAVEL-JAKL Vertu is using "Luxury OS" which is based on Android 12 (with the METAVERTU). Android is based on Linux OS. Vertu is not using any software from Samsung as far we know.

It's cheaper, might be better, but it's still not a Vertu and doesn't support web3, can't mine cryptocurrency or support dapp-store at this moment, which METAVERTU can do. We still can understand that people will choose a Samsung S23 Ultra over a METAVERTU, but it's still 'just' a Samsung and will never be a Vertu phone (no pun intented). You can also ask: why would someone choose a Rolls-Royce over a BMW 760? Comparable cars, but a BMW will never be a Rolls-Royce ;)
