Mike always seems to be the most creative, Jamie always seems to be somewhere between creativity and insanity, and Barry always seems to have taken some form of hallucigenic mushroom about three hours before the start of taping and it's at full effect during the video.

I want to see Ebbers and Kush try to improve Jamie's Fish in Chips, because I like the idea. :)

I love the lore that Mike has been obsessed with Elote for the past few weeks and decided to use it as his inspiration for this battle. That little context just makes it so much better.

The boys should do an "Unplanned Michelin Star Battle" where they try and make the fanciest meal possible with all the knowledge they're learnt so far!

Both Mike and Barry forgetting the nozzle shows that they might not be at chef level just yet. 😂

Did Jamie forget to press out the grated Potato and then even added the vinegar to make it even wetter? Im guessing that's a main cause of the chewy texture that Ben experienced. The idea definitely warrants a re-visit later down the line as it has potential.

The whole time I was watching them dropping the parchment paper into the oil, thinking to myself “if only there was some kind of common kitchen utensil that could be used to lower food into hot oil” 😂

I've said it before, but what I really love about this channel is the camaraderie. Even when you're in competition, you support/commiserate with each other.

Barry's "I like him" is one of the most endearing moments I've watched on Sorted.

I love how after watching these guys for so many years now, I always point out before them realising it that they haven't put the nozzle in the piping bag before putting the batter in it every single time!!! It's now a thing like Barry not turning the hobs off or Ben mentioning his trips/garden/wine course or his Bennuendos or Jamie's dad humour or an everlasting Huttlestorm.

This was a great video!! From Barry accidentally blurting his thoughts, to Jamie splattering his sauce on Barry's bum, to Mike not realizing how gravity works. I have been loving the Mythical Kitchen collabs but this one might outweigh those! And I didn't think that was possible!!!

I have never seen Barry in this state of lack of self-confidence, and it was kinda disturbing 😃 Mike's pizza-fries looked great, though. Jamie's technique is very common in my family, although we usually fry pork shoulder in a potato blanket, and plate it with some dill, sour cream and cheese on top. Great battle!

I distinctly remember them just recently discussing that "French Fries" are named after the way to cut them - French style - not after the country itself. On that note, it's a good choice that they went with "Fries battle" rather than the "ultimate normals battle: French Fries" that was displayed at 0:28.

The boys haven't refined themselves enough to be called it, but they certainly think like chefs now. Mike trying to share a new technique he's recently been trying to perfect. Jamie taking known dishes and flipping them on their head. And Barry coming at it from a completely different direction to surprise people. The finesse and little tricks chefs use to keep things from going pear shaped need to be learned, but they're farther along than most.

Barry adding sugar over his 'chips' whilst the rack was pretty much over the pan of corn on the hob had me panicked.

I love Jamie's idea, I think if they were chunky chips filled with fish that had been blended up with some herbs then it might have actually worked better. I hope they revisit that concept!

Tip for piping: Squeeze with your hand that’s holding the bag shut at the top, I promise it’s an absolute game changer. When you squeeze with your hand that’s close to the nozzle/tip, it makes it really difficult because you have to squeeze harder, your piping will be inconsistent since you’ll have less control, and you’ll keep having to stop to get whatever you’re piping down towards the tip again. When you squeeze from the top, you’ll have so much more control, consistency, a much easier time, and you barely have to stop at all. You barely have to apply pressure that way. Try it next time and you’ll be blown away by how much of a difference it makes.

I really want the chiefs to recreate each dish to make them top notch.

Fun battle! I like where Jaime was going but I think I would have taken a nod from Korean cuisine and coat the outside of the fish with chips instead. Would have fully made fish & chips into a single fish covered in chips.

The unplanned battles are great! Mike's dish was intriguing and elote flavor is so good, Jaime could have used shaved waffle fries for the fish coating and it would have been perfectly crispy, Barry - wow, that was a Pass It On mess.

Didn't Heston Blumenthal do something similar years ago on a Channel 4 show, where he took a savaloy, wrapped it in mushy peas, then basically blitzed together the batter fish, chips, bread and butter, tartare sauce, salt and vinegar, wrapped it round that, then battered and fried it? Was the same show where he served a Cod's Head Cocktail out of a giant jelly fish eye, and made chocolate popping candy chips with mint/pea ice ream.

Hey guys! Got a cool idea: Umami battle/challenge. Feed the normal dishes that had plenty of umami in them and have them guess what the source of umami is. And in a battle have them create a dish jam packed with as much umami as they can put in!
