The oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, Kashi, also known as "the City of Light," is thought to be over 15,000 years old. This beautiful metropolis, which is home to 33 million gods and goddesses, was Adiyogi Shiva and his wife Parvati's favorite place to live shortly after their marriage. By consecrating 108 shrines with distinctive attributes in a particular design, the Adiyogi himself created a potent mandala (a sacred circular geometric pattern) of the city that is still in existence today.
