I like the idea that sweet pea’s childhood innocence and general silliness is constantly driving the Lich inside him absolutely mad, and there’s nothing he can do about it.

Imagine growing up in a world with a mountain sized Sweet P as it's hero. I always thought that if Finn was the one who mentored him in the ways of a hero, it would be interesting if Sweet P ended up inspiring Shermy (Finn's reincarnation) into also wanting to become a hero aswell. Those would be some very big shoes to fill!

Sweet P is essentially a fusion of whoever the Lich's original vessel was and Billy, which would make him pretty strong just by virtue of Billy being in the mix.

The idea of Finn being the one that mentored Sweet P is just so sweet.

I imagine had the show kept going Sweet P and the Lich would have basically been a Bruce Banne/Hulk type of thing in fact I would love to see a alternate version of the Lich who succeeded with turning Sweet P into another him

I can see Sweet pea ensuring that his body is somehow destroyed when he dies, like casting it in the sun. Or, possibly (and sadly) he actively commits suicide at some point when he's nearing his end. Alternatively, I could see him training up a new hero to be able to defeat him specifically.

I think one aspect that is overlooked is the agonizing pain the Lich was in by being made alive again, or for the first time ever. Imagine having to relive the forgotten pain of existence by being built fiber by fiber, nerve by nerve, and having to put up with it for as long as your host lives - Which considering Sweet P's age, that he looks like a man just getting on his late 20's by being 1000 years old, could mean he's there for the ride for the next 8 to 10k years. And chances are, if the night sword is buried with him when that happens, it will be even longer -perhaps far faaar longer, if one sees Coconteppi as an example. But in any case, well, the Lich is arrogant because he knows his place in the timewheel - he'll eventually bring the end. Ironically, chances are good that the moment he reaches his goal he aimply vanishes, in order for creation to begin again.

I wonder if it’s theoretically possible for Sweet P to learn some of the Lich’s spells like that necrotic mist breath he used on Prismo

I don't know why, but the lich just whispering evil into sweet p's ear is the funniest thing. It just makes me laugh so hard.

Little correction. While pretty much all primordials seek only power, wealth, lust and carnage. Tthe lich cares only for death. He is not evil, he is inevitable. The final moments for all.

I feel it is important to remember that the body that was turned into Sweetpee did not originally belong to the lich, it was Billy's corpse that was possessed by the lich. So it would be more appropriate to compare Sweetpee's situation to what bubblegum went through when she was possessed. Also, I'd be more inclined to believe that the lich can die since he is a reincarnation of a catalyst comet just like fin, and he found himself in the deadworld after being slain.

The idea the Lich is still within Sweet Pea as a ticking time bomb is terrifying. Makes me wonder in the 1000+ years he's been alive, if Sweet Pea has been thinking of ways to either destroy his own body so the Lich can't harness his corpse and gain full power or somether equally crazy idea. It would not stop the Lich but it would continue to stop his deeds and it be one last middle finger from Sweet Pea to the Lich.

I think Sweet P is actually equal parts Lich and Billy, seeing as the lich's ghost possesses Billy's physical body, or as Prismo puts it, is "a ghost wearing a dead guy" when the body is repaired by the guardian blood. The bones themselves may have been reshaped by the lich's energy somehow, sort of like how Farmworld Jake changes to take on the appearance of the lich (it is unknown whether or not farmworld jake has alien stretching powers in his pre-mutated dog body). The Nightsword is shown to bind Hunson Abadeer, and perhaps on Sweet P.'s Passing/the lich taking over, it will bind the Lich the same way? That may be why he carries it with him, since besides "rule of cool" there's little need for a giant to wield a sword otherwise.

I always saw sweet p as a sort of "anti-lich". My theory was that sweet p is in fact a primordial who embodies gentleness, innocence, and happiness. That's why he's able to keep the lich contained, a sort of yin-yang type symbiosis

Death might not be a factor here regarding the lich's escape. Hear me out, they're tied at the soul, which means Sweet P could probably drag the Lich with him into the dead worlds, at which point, there's two options. The Lich's soul would make it so they're stuck in dead world 1, never leaving. Option 2 is that sweet P is so good that he can drag the lich into a new reincarnation, which wouldn't completely erase the lich, but it does mean he has to deal with a brand new person to keep up the fight

The main reason I believe Sweet P managed to live so long was simply because of the fact that the lich got completely covered in citadel guardian blood, which, with a constant source of it, kept those held in the citadel young for god knows how long. That also might explain his visual similarities to primordials, but that's a bit of a leap in logic. 😅

Billy is Finn's hero who subdued the Lich, if temporarily. Billy was then killed and possessed by the Lich. The Lich then became Sweet P., who was then mentored by Finn. Sweet P. subdued the Lich and presumably became SHERMY'S hero... If history repeats itself, or even rhymes, we might be looking at the end of Sweet P in Shermy's near future, with the Lich breaking out and killing & possessing Sweet P. before Shermy finds a way to subdue him again. Sweet P is just the new Billy. :(

I think Sweet P is more a prison for the litch. As when sweet P dies it would be at the end of life anyway. As of the newest show the litch might end up getting his wish but the torture is it's not going to be by his hand.

I wonder if Shermy and Beth will have to defeat a mountain sized sweet P. Do you think Shermy and Beth consider Sweet P to be their times Billy? The Night Sword has an eye, could it be alive, is it Sweet P's best friend?

Okay, but wouldn't sweet p actually be a rebooted form of billy, considering it was billy's body that the lich was inhabiting, and sweet p just has connection to the lich because the lich was in Billy's body when finn rebooted him?

Theres one thing we tend to overlook when it comes to the Lich and it's one of those things that actually makes him a rare type of villain- the successful villain. Although we know the Lichs ultimate goal is the spread of death, he had one specific mission- gain the Enchiridion and travel to all dimensions. He did that. In Distant Lands, we saw another version of the Lich but theres a legion of Liches outside of Ooo. The Maid did nothing to stop that. Plus, referring again to Distant Lands, a lot had seemed to happen regarding the age and deaths of many of the series characters. By that time, New Death was in control, but the Lich was the literal "right hand of death". Could we take that as a symbol, that the Lich was in some way successful outside of Ooo? While Sweet P may be a living incarnation of the Lich (and thus, Ooos version of the Lich), I could think of another reason why the Night Sword was inheritted- battling the Lich, inside and out, as in, from outer worlds. Not that the Lich would return to Ooo for something like vengeance or what not, but given the Lichs motivations, hed inevitably return to Ooo. Or, perhaps, already had by the time we see 1K Sweet P. It's my belief that by the time we see 1K Sweet P, that he is on his way on some quest. The mountain (Mt. Cragdor), is associated w heroes bc it was the resting place of the Enchiridion, suggesting to me some kind of heroic quest. I dont think it's far fetched to suggest that Finn & Sweet P probably adventured some after Jake passed away, which is why he inherited the Night Sword. Finn was certainly taken w the way he smote the Lich.

Back during the universe before time, the Lich may have taken over a young Primordial, supressing it for as long as he existed. But the events at the Citidel broke that vice grip and Sweet Pea, whoever he used to be, slowly came back to himself. That does not take the Catalyst Comet reincarnation schtick into account, though, so I am most likely completely wrong.

i like the idea of sweet pea being a mentor of Finn's and also the idea that his primordial power keeps him from aging quickly.

But why would the Green Comet actually choose to have a vessel that isn't bent on destruction?

Sweet pea might have a plan or is looking for a plan to incase the lich, as hes should know that the lich will bid his time as long as it takes

I'd imagine if Sweet P ever was nearing that point where the Lich could return, he'd have a few safeguards ready to stop the Lich's return. The guy's had 1000 years to think about it and maybe 1000 years more to prepare for it, he knows more about the Lich than probably anybody else. Plus, if all else fails, he's still got Finn's reincarnations to help him if need be. He might not know who or what they are, but I doubt Finn's heroic blue comet nature would prevent him from stepping up to defeat the Lich in any form he takes.

oh my god. i never actually realized that most of the major primordials we have seen are some kind of yellow or yellow-adjacent color (for example, lich being green, orgalorg being yellow, coconteppi being orange) and thats honestly a pretty sweet detail

Here is another Adventure Time what if idea: What If Flame King Raised Flame Princess? What do I mean by this? Well, in the original Adventure Time timeline, Princess Bubblegum imprisoned Flame Princess in the lantern because she is dangerous and because of this, Flame Princess didn't receive a childhood. She wasn't freed from the lantern until Jake arrives in the Fire Kingdom so that he can find Finn a girlfriend. But what if that never happened? What If Flame King raised Flame Princess personally and train her to use her powers properly and control it better so that she wouldn't be dangerous in the future. Plus, since Flame King believe that the citizens of the Fire Kingdom is evil, what if Flame King gave her daughter a proper childhood and raised her to be evil. Because of this, what would Flame Princess relationship with Finn be now if Phoebe was given a proper childhood, get better training of her powers because she is the most powerful flame person ever, and not imprisoned in the lantern for 14 years.

Remember Sweet P wasn’t shown between when Lich was first turned into him, it skipped right to Farmworld Lich. Indicating he might have actually overcame the Lich in him or Sweet P would’ve been shown regardless.

There might be a way for Sweet P to stop the Litch from returning, although a sad one: if he used the Night Blade on himself, he would die, but the power of the sword could seal the Litch inside Sweet P's lifeless body. The only way to free the Litch would be to extract the sword from his body, but at that point the body might as well been terraformed into a mountain, so good luck with that.

Great video! After having re-watched the series countless times over the years, I always find myself drawn to the Sweet P and BMO centered episodes the most. The AT writers are great at crafting sweet bubbly characters, with a ton of darkness hiding beneath the surface. I would love to see Sweet P play a mentor role to Beth and Shermy if the series were to be revived.

Sweet P is definitely related to Billy, I would say. It's possible that while the Lich was on the Citadel, the remainder of Billy's flesh fell away, but I don't see that as the case. Remember, we've seen the Lich become a completely intangible shadow before possessing Bubblegum, the Snail, etc. The Lich doesn't have a physical body, just a vessel that it's stealing. So the bones that Sweet P's body grew around, though mutated, are still Billy's bones. That's likely why Sweet P looks so close to human, because the sap regrew the body without all the mutagen impurities. I think it would be neat if in the years of Sweet P growing into a hero, his teen and young adult years essentially, we see Billy commune with him along with the Lich, the same way Billy talked to Finn in the stars. That would give Sweet P a good balance of influence, and ultimately make him better-equipped to choose his own path, which I think is exactly what his arc is about.

Just finished binge watching all your adventure time lore vid playlist. Absolutely loved all of them! I have subscribed and hit the bell button! These vids are awesome! All the details fit within such short video. I’m someone that likes longer videos usually, but these vids just put so much into such a small period of time.

Interestingly enough probably becomes Finn's student and replaces him. He will probably become the new Billy with a twist. When he dies or gets too old the Lich will return. So if he was to meet and Beth and Shermy. He will be their greatest friend & worst enemy.

I do have a theory that the lich actually started out in the form of sweet pea, and then got corrupted by studying golb which ate away at him. Decaying his flesh to the bone as he got older. When sweet pea gained back his flesh, it was like a reset. That's my thoughts.

Sometimes I wonder if the Lich had lied. It seems to me that the Lich does not represent the end - but he represents scars. Trauma. The Lich was created by a mass cataclysm, a great dying that left a scar on the Earth. The epicenter of that scar consistently seems to be his birthplace. As such, Sweet Pea is what happens when that wound or trauma heals - an imprint remains, but is changed. It no longer festers. It no longer hurts. However, that doesn't mean one should go prodding at it...

So is Sweet P the lich? The same way Finn is technically shoko and every incarnation before him. Just a different individual but essentially the same entity I've also always wondered if Sweet P is supposed to be the reincarnation of Billy, I mean think about it. Giant warrior man with a glorious beard that has lived through centuries of battle. Though thats just headcannon since afaik you can't be the reincarnation of 2 separate beings. But that does make me ask, is every character in Adventure Time someone that reincarnates or is it based on stuff like cosmic importance (elementals, primordials, catalyst comets etc) ??

Imagine being some super villain defeating a literal giant warrior hero only to realize that the whole fight was just an appetizer for a fight with the embodiment of death.

The Lich is a dead being. He’s never been “alive.” When coming into contact with that goop, idk what it is, it gave him flesh. He became a living being. Sweet P works as a prison for the Lich. A being of life that counteracts and dominates his evil soul. 2 souls in 1 undying body. I do think Sweet P is immortal. He can age but can’t die unless he’s killed.

I imagen a scene similar to that of Finn seeing Billy being possessed by the lich happening to Shermy. The Hero he was inspired by, possibly his mentor, who himself was inspired by his past life, is succumbing to his malevolent side and what's left of his good side begs you to defeat him, Shermy gonna be through some bs. It'd be even more fucked up that its in that battle where he loses his arm, as it's a common trope at this point for him in every life

For some reason I didn't realize the comet was the Lich until now when I just noticed the horn-like fire-tail-things. 2:09 wait, he did that? lmao I thought that was just somthing Flame King did to his daughter.

I figured that when sweet pea dies his personality would merge with the lich. Could be wrong. However I feel like that’s likely.

Sweet pea has the powers of the litch, the skeleton of Billy, and he was made from the blood of a citadel guardian... yeah this boy is gonna be beefy and very very destructive if the lich ever takes over him... That makes me wonder though what type of blood does sweep he have does he have the blood of any normal Ooo person or does he have blood of citadel guardian ?

It also might just be the fact that if Sweet P dies and considering the fact that him and the Lich are intrinsicly tied to eachother it might just be that their death creates a new Catalyst Comet.

The lich became what he hated the most.. a hero.

It would actually make sense for sweet pea to be a primordial, maybe the litch has grown up as a primordial himself (would make sense if he has memories of a primordials), so maybe he was fully grown (and clearly being a corpse) his immortality was fueled by eternal death, so when the life goop came into contact with him it erased eternal death (or nullified it) making sweet pea into a whole new being that grows up and gets old, however of course with the lich still active/dormant inside as a soul.

I personally think that sweet p is really one of the primordials, and considering your theory of the lich being one of them i think he may had taken over the body of one during the war at the beginning of time

The just makes me wonder if the 4th dimensional sword that was basically a black hole would be able to suck in the Lich. This made me think of this because of you saying that the Lich is unable to be destroyed.

I believe as stated by another person in the comment section that Sweet P is literally the Fusion of Lich original Vessel and Billy. Now i know it was never stated or stuff like that but i believe the Lich to be something alike Primordials cuz he is the literal COMET who simply found a vessel, Wich make me think that if this is true and Sweet P simply inherited Lich power's due to being pretty much the Lich himself in some sort he could actually have become Something SIMILAR extremely SIMILAR to a Primordial because of being the Lich + Being the fusion of 2 extremely powerfull vessel (i believe that the Lich first vessel was pretty strong due to be able to inherit the Lich) so maybe Sweet P the more he age the longer he live's, basically my headcanon/theory is that Sweet P the more he age the slower the aging will be making him at some time basically Immortal, he will likely live millions or even billions of years unless he get killed by something or someone wich is incredibly unlikely, wich means the Lich would probably never have the chance to get Sweet P body. Honestly if you read all of this nonsensical headcanon of mine i wish you a good night or day, Also i wish they actually planned on making a Sweet P Spin-off to see his adventure's instead of a spinoff about character's i sure like but i'm not instrested in the slightest.

Can we also refer that he originally had one horn though. End of elemental episode there was a scene that sweetpeas second horn got repaired. It might be symbolic as well if we assume that magic somehow matured or repaired his mind enough to either suppress lichs effect or banish it. These questions still answered in distland lands too unfortunately. Why cartoons usually dont get enough fan service to answer all questions though. It boogles my mind. Steven universe future also suffers from that they look forward so much that they overlook general aspects of lore that fans speculating for literal years maybe even half decade

I am pretty certain that Sweet Pea is the rebirthed form of Billy's body, so he has Billy's DNA.

Sweet P is fundamentally the Lich reborn. Finn has been reborn many times, each incarnation being the same person, but also different. Shoko being a bandit, Finn a hero.

I see the Lich less as the embodiment of evil, and more as the embodiment of death. He's not a villain, he is the inevitable march of time itself as the universe succumbs to entropy. The forces of good may conquer evil, but they can only do their best to stave off death. Heroes may be strong, but time is beyond strength.

Though another thing I am curious about... That most seem to not think about.. Ice Thing aka Gunther. Thanks to the lich's speech we KNOW he has existed longer than the universe. Ergo he is immortal even WITHOUT the crown. Now here's another reminder... Gunther did have a CHILD. *That magical Kitten* Which when you think about out it... Could have interesting implications if the same immortality transferred to it. Thus in the future of Ooo, while the Ice Thing is roaming around, the kitten is out there. Doing good, or evil. No idea. Someone's pet, or perhaps the REAL prisoner we saw in the Beth and Shermy opening and not PB.

It is possible that if sweet pie died the night sword would restrain the lich just like Hudson blocking his magic. Another possibility for fin giving him the night sword In the first place

If the Lich's skeletal body was his true, essential form, it shouldn't have been possible to turn him into Sweet Pea by "healing" him. This tells us that the Lich's essence took over a living body, possibly in the same way that Farmworld Lich took over Jake's body, and that's what Sweet Pea is. But what's most interesting is that the giant size and horns were not reverted by the Lumps. This suggests that either the size and horns were already present before the Lich took over, or that some aspects of the mutation are "non-elemental" in nature. Or maybe the Lich is just so stubborn that even LSP's essence can't make him go away.

I wanna see the adventure comic of Sweet Pea dying and someone trying to prepare for the return of the lich
