Hey there, it's Filip from EZ Unreal! Today, I'll guide you through mesh painting with Megascans materials in Unreal Engine 5.
First, grab some materials from Quixel Bridge, download, and add them to your project. Filter for material instances.
Now, create a material blend in Megascans. Remember, layer order matters! If you hit a 3-material limit error, don't worry-I've got a quick fix for you.
Create a mesh using the rectangle tool, add subdivisions, and position it in the level. To start painting, drag your blend material onto the plane.
In mesh paint editing mode, choose your brush size and strength. Toggle channels to paint different layers. Use SHIFT to erase and the blue channel for puddles.
Fine-tune by adjusting smoothness and blending in the material blend settings.
