Welcome to the first Unreal Engine marketplace asset I released.

Auto Material Setup is an easy to use asset to cut development time for importing textures and creating materials in half.
The asset was mainly designed for textures coming from SUBSTANCE PAINTER. But it has also functionalities to work for any texture setup based on freely editable texture suffix patterns.
A simple right click on the assets you wish to auto setup displays the auto material setup functions.
Asset does not need any packaging and your project will never depend on it.

Since i tend to buy it: Does this work with combined texture maps for sure? I got the model NAME.fbx with NAME.mat assigned, texture maps are NAME.tif as albedo, NAME_normal.png and NAME_OccRoughMet (combined in R G B Channels) thx and greetings

yes, i used orm texture maps in rgb (+ base colour & emmissive maps on their own) and it worked

Is this idea a bit like "Node Wrangler" of Blender?

hm not realy node wrangles makes connecting nodes easier right? but my asset automatically connects everything basic

@@MarvelMaster , if you press ctrl shift T in Blender material window, it gives browser, you select bunch of textures (if more ir less recognizably named), and Node Wrangler auto-forms all material nodes connections.

it is a good idea but can it make 1 master material and leave the rest as instances

Jeah somebody already suggested that but 1. I don't like the idea to rely on one material for a whole project and 2. The main purpose of this addon is to speed up the assignment of textures to freshly imported models/materials

@@MarvelMaster yes i can see how that is true but for most games they have up to3-5 master materials in each project, if the reason for the plugin is just to see how the textures look on a object then substance painter has a live link with UE4 & 5, if you still have to manually assign textures to a material instance then i don't really see a practical use for this plugin in a actual gaming pipline.

@@MarvelMaster the best way to fix this is just to add instance option and a master material as well. Or if possible to make the plugin just swap textures with the suffixes of a master martial of your choices, i think this would be the best possible outcome in my opinion.
