Episode 3 we are coming fresh off an awesome 6 man limit, eager to get back out there! Simms and Sam weren’t done yet, they rolled back down to Simms place for the first hunt of the year out there. Morning three we were just taking it easy and hunting the timber. Shot one mallard early but man did we do it right, came all the way down on a string. Half way through day 3’s hunt Caleb texts Simms saying there was some weather rolling in and he has a feeling fresh birds are on their way. Quick 24 hour turnaround and we are headed back up north to see if Caleb’s gut feeling would pay off, we arrived with about 15 minutes of daylight left and went straight into the woods to see if we could see or hear any ducks - the immediate thought was “god why did we come back up here”. This was another lesson learned, everyone was telling us to not go back up, they had a bad hunt the previous day, there were no birds, it will be a waste of your time… sure enough that next morning there were ducks everywhere. Moral of the story, always trust your gut! First light, we got mallards. We hammered them, it was well worth the trip. Like we always say, you never know but you should always go. They are here one day and gone the next. Great ending to the 4-leg weekend!
