Hi Your channel has been very helpful, by any chance could you do a detail explanation of F.A.G.S (Regulation 26.9) of appliances such as Boilers, Cookers & Fires. Thanks

Hi, great vid. Although I understood that if the situation isn’t made safe, you need to label an AR situation as well as an ID situation as well as ask the customer for permission to turn it off. Only difference is that if they don’t give you permission, you don’t notify the ESP and then go on your merry way. Is that not the case?

Hi, your channel has been immensely helpful to me, thank you so much. I wanted to ask if you would be able to do a video on how to classify on situations like, 1.Low working pressure at room sealed boiler but CO readings ok, same for open flued boiler. 2. Working pressure fine but readings out on room sealed boiler. Not every situation is mentioned in igem g11. And is there any logical way I can interpret and figure it out myself if not there. Also would you fire up all other appliances when checking pressure at boiler, some engineers I've come across dont, wondering what is the right way. Thanks in advance

Hi Abdul. You’re getting a bit confused between “faults” and unsafe sits. If you have a problem working out questions like you’ve asked, then ask yourself this..”is this a DANGEROUS situation?” Your examples show one that is and one that isn’t. Low pressure at the appliance but CO readings ok .. the only problem is the low pressure..is low gas supply a dangerous situation..well it’s not, it’s just a fault. It’s going to make the boiler a bit less efficient but that’s about all. If it had affected the readings then the readings would be wrong and that IS a dangerous sit. So 1 is not dangerous. 2. Is straightforward dangerous and it’s in the list. If an appliance fails is CO test (regardless of the cause) it’s dangerous (flueless=id flued = ar). In this case at least you know it’s not the working pressure that’s a problem! So your diagnostics are halfway done! Remember…people have been working with gas for over 150 years and the Unsafe Situation guide has been compiled over that time. Only dangerous stuff is in there. Low pressure isn’t in there because it’s not dangerous on its own. It becomes a danger if the results fail ..and that is in the unsafe situation guide. Don’t confuse faults and unsafe situations..I hope that helps..I’ll answer you other question in a minute. Good Luck 🤞

Firing up all appliances when doing working pressure on a single appliance …let’s think this through as an engineer…If you put everything on then check the pressure at one appliance, and it’s low, where does the fault lie? Is it the appliance, or is the system pipe sizing to blame? You could spend 4 hours trying to adjust the appliance regulator when there’s nothing wrong with, it’s just that the pipes are too small to handle the demand when everything is on. So, it’s best to test it on its own first..that lets you know that the regulator is ok or if it needs to be adjusted. THEN do it again with everything on, that tests the pipe sizing is still delivering enough gas at maximum demand. I hope that makes sense.

@@passyourgas ahh I see....checking working pressure with just the one appliance fired up makes sense. Just asked the question because few engineers i've shadowed only checked with the one on but then didn't check with all of them on which i couldn't understand as i knew this test would show if the pipes are undersized, which in turn could affect co readings if that was also checked. thanks again!

@@passyourgas that's very nice of you doing this to help people like me and share your knowledge and experiences with us, not every retired tutor or gas engineer would do that, I very much appreciate what you and thanks. I'll keep you advice in mind thanks. Yes why I do this so I can build a better future for myself and especially the family. I've been through lots of difficult time from young ages, it's only since I live in the UK I can concentrate on studying and gaining qualifications, isn't easy, but I do my best. I find this Acs too difficult, I just can't wait to pass it all, of course it required lots studying.

another question sorry. in igem g11 it says if the ecv is not accessible in a non emergency situation this its at risk, but turning it off wont make a difference, so a warning notice needs to be left and not the label. i can't understand how they say turning it off wont make a difference, nearly every potential situation can be eliminated by turning the gas off..... image they could smell gas and now they don't know how to get to ecv to turn off, but if you just turned off the gas before you left because it was inaccessible to customer then that situation would never has risen.
@passyourgas
@passyourgas Жыл бұрын
Hi again Abdul. This is a great question. Unfortunately I don’t sit on the board of the IGEM who make these decisions so I don’t know their exact reasoning, but I think I can help to clear up your confusion. If there is no immediate access to the ECV it’s a dangerous situation..no argument with that. If you go to a property and notice a situation which breaches the unsafe sits let’s say the gas leak you mention and you can’t get access to the ecv, then, because a gas leak is a problem that closing the ecv will cure the situation becomes immediately dangerous. However, if you go to a property where a flammable kitchen curtain is hanging too near to the hob rings of a cooker, then you notice that there is no access to the ecv, this means that operating the ecv will make no difference to the unsafe sit. You simply remove the curtain or move the cooker. In that case you can’t just walk out and leave things as they are, but the ecv has no influence on the unsafe sit. So you place it “at risk” of something happening in the future. In reality you would contact the supplier and get them to fix it. I hope this helps. Cheers

Hi, any gas book (viper etc) will have a list of NCS situations. They’re still relevant but they’ve just been removed from the unsafe sits area of gas. Cheers

Riddor, I reported and it can be a housing accociation and gas safe has nothing to do about it. Phone gas safe and they say write a letter to the person who had the gas issue and it goes nowhere. I reported a landlord and nothing happens.
