Naw Emily’s slap being top ten moments is 100% the right opinion

I love them both so much but Until Dawn will always hold a special place in my heart because I loved those characters so much. Both games slap though.

Until dawn was actually revolutionizing for its time and what got me into story like games as whole, and while i loved the quarry too, i got that sentimental shit towards until dawn that just can be beat 💀

I also prefer The Quarry for a few reasons: The fact that you CAN FAIL at killing Silas is really good, you WILL kill the wendigos at the end of Until Dawn, even if you failed every QTE and made the worst choices. The mechanic of your characters turning into werewolves is just so good, and it’s a reference to the Hackett’s Quarry motto: What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger (in the vast majority, turning into a werewolf secures a character but can kill other characters) The choices in The Quarry were much better, they really have an impact more than just few dialogues changes or Choice A, die, Choice B, survive situations. Also Dylan and Kaitlyn are the goats

Both are really good. Until Dawn is a bit better but the Quarry is still great If you love horror movies I strongly recommend BOTH of them.

I'll give my own personal humble opinion as well... Until Dawn's strongest points in my opinion are these: 1. Backstory/the monsters The fact that they tie the Natives Tribal beliefs together with the whole miners thing as well as Hannah's fate is executed really well. They didn't just bring in one of these factors simply for the story of the wendigos to make sense, but they utilise them in other ways as well with a) Hannah's fate obviously being the reason the game takes place in the first place, b) the Natives tribal beliefs making room for the totem collectables, the stranger and his past as well as leading some people to believe the Psycho is a part/descendant of the tribe, and c) having the miners' story connected to the Sanatorium and, well, the mines, and basically having endless amounts of map for the characters to explore. On top of that, piecing together all the pieces isn't as simple as with the Quarry, and it's also not super obvious what's going on. 2. Setting This one is probably very subjective, but the fact that it's winter and the lonely mountain with its forests are super snowy not only makes the game very visually appealing but also a lot scarier and that coupled with the fact that the only way out is the cable car, there's always the fear of getting lost and it's also super difficult to get help, find food or a source of warmth. 3. Immersiveness I don't really like the way The Quarry's game mechanics work in terms of immersiveness. In The Quarry, when making a choice, the image slows down and plays a (very often absolutely ridiculous looking) loop, the audio is muffled and the "screen" gets smaller to make space for the decisions, meanwhile in Until Dawn you're still in the moment, the audio isn't muffled, very often the image doesn't even slow down with the character currently being played still making facial expressions and other things going on in the background. I find that this makes the game a lot more immersive and makes the choices feel super "real" since you're still in the moment. 4. Don't Move Let's be fr, don't move is a billion times better than don't breathe and I don't even need to explain why. (This one kind of ties into point 3) 5. An actual plottwist The Quarry didn't really have any kind of plottwist other than Chris Hackett being in on it and having to kill him, while Until Dawn let's us believe it's a stereotypical piece of horror media with one psycho being the bad guy and killing everyone, but then suuuper late on in the game it turns out that the Psycho was Josh and technically didn't physically hurt anyone and in his super mentally ill mind saw it all as just a prank and that the actual enemies are supernatural creatures. It keeps you on your feet for the entire game, as in the first half you're trying to figure out who the Psycho is and in the second half trying to piece together the story of the Wendigos WHILE keeping everyone alive. I'd definitely say that storyline wise, Until Dawn is a LOT better, BUT when it comes to the game actually being a game, The Quarry is better for me for 2 simple reasons being: 1. Your Choices are more than "Who Lives/Who Dies" and 2. There's 3 total statuses instead of 2 (Alive, Infected/Turned, Dead) What I mean by that is that in Until Dawn, the storyline always follows the exact same path, and the only effect your choices really have is deciding whether a character lives or dies. Meanwhile in The Quarry, the choices that you make can alter the actual events other than a character living or dying, and the fact that there's 3 statuses instead of 2 really helps that fact. So, when judging the games by the gaming factor The Quarry definitely wins. All in all though, I do think I like Until Dawn more, on one hand because the aesthetics of a game/movie/anything are super important to me, and the whole setting of Until Dawn is so unbelievably great, but also because it's simply nostalgic.

I prefer the setting/story of The Quarry. Characters are both good and well done. The werewolfs could have been designed better (my opinion) since they just look so similar in physique to the Wendigo. The ending definetly goes to until dawn. The conclusion of the quarry was done really bad in comparison, i would have preferred to have a similar ending with the characters telling what happened instead of the podcast. I'll go for The Quarry in general.

How to defeat the quarry? •Stay on the boat in the middle of the lake since werewolves can't go there, like come on Kaitlyn and Dylan never think of that? You literally have to go to the car's place? And I don't like how they made Kaitlyn useless if I didn't kill Dylan In Until Dawn, there's only one thing missing, EMILY AND JESSICA ENDING

my biggest problem with the quarry (aside from the fact thar it’s not until dawn and i love until dawn to an unhealthy degree) is the werewolves. first of all, there doesn’t seem to be a consistent pattern as to when they bite a character and when they kill them which really ruins the immersion for me as the outcome of fights is quite random rather than dependent on the player’s actions. in until dawn, if you fail (usually), it means that the character dies. in the quarry, they die or get bitten and the player has no control over which one happens. second of all, it’s just less intense when we know that characters might get bitten and not killed. okay, nobody wants to be a werewolf, but they’ll just transform back in the morning and they can always get cured. getting a character bitten because of your mistake is inherently less frustrating than getting them killed. moreover, sometimes being bitten can actually save the character in the future. kind of ruins the tension to me. third of all, in comparison with wendigos werewolves are just less freaky. wendigos are humans who have resorted to cannibalism and now hunt down people to eat them while using their human brains to create clever traps. werevolves are normal people who got bit by an animal and now turn into a big animal for one night a month and bite other humans because they’re animals. to me, werewolves just don’t cut it. also it might have to do with the fact that werewolves are a very mainstream race which makes it a bit less scary and believable to me.

Easy answer: As a game, playability-wise, The Quarry is better, but as a story Until Dawn is AGES better. It literally feels like you're watching a movie were you have to make decitions on the spot, while The Quarry feels like a random selection of scenes thrown together.

Both games are great but imo Until Dawn is way better. I think the characters in Until Dawn was done better, the story was better, the ties to the butterfly effect were cool, the therapy sessions were done great cause it talked to the player but also fit into the story with Josh, the setting is better, the twist is amazing, and the wendigos are really cool. The Quarry really suffers in characters for me cause the only ones I really like are Laura, Travis, and Max who you barely see until the end. Also, the fact that we didn't see Laura reunite with Max after ending the werewolves is stupid.

As much as I absolutely LOVE Dylan, Until Dawn is way better for me! I found the crazy woman useless in the Quarry, in contrary to the psychiatrist and the totems in Until Dawn. It's more rewarding the get to see the future with all the totems you found in UD, so that it has a sense to search for all of them, because after all you don't need to find all the tarot card, since you can't see them all. And the prison bit was wayyyyy to long for somebody who guessed everything before hand. It was kinda useless and boring, it got me out of the story. Even if I tried to make Laura likeable and cooperate with the cop, she ignored everything and still acted out as she wanted from the start. Also the ending was lazy, I simply didn't know when or how it was supposed to end. I got Laura killed, so didn't get to see Sylas (my fault I know haha), but in the cabin, I had Dylan alive, and when Kaitlyn died, the game just ended like that. Even Jacob and Emma were alive, I thought I could play them as well, but no, it just skipped to the end titles like that. It was frustrating. Still loved the game, but for me it's inferior to Until Dawn!

people actually prefer the quarry over until dawn? ngl but i hated the quarry it lacked story. it was so bad. charcaters too i didnt like any of them. in until dawn you could actually see the character development but in the quarry? u get some boring ass walmart version of until dawn characters lol. the quarry wasnt scary too so yeah. Also having 2 villains in one game. that game was a mystery while the quarry is just ah thats the villain thats how it works ok. and the game ends. in until dawn u can go from not liking a character to loving it. the quarry lacked lots of things. playing until dawn u have that tense feeling that u dont have playing the quarry. Wendigos are way better than werewolfs and way scarier. the end is also way better in until dawn. in the quarry the ending is so boring and nothing exciting happens.

until dawn didn't have three *mandatory* user agreements. until dawn allows you to fix your mistakes unlike the Quarry saves instantaneously on choices made

The werewolves are extremely goofy and not once did they scare me compared to the wendigos who are freaky looking and have unnatural movements theres no debate on which game i prefer

Guys please tell me there's more choice horror games like this. I haven't played Until Dawn at all. I'm playing the quarry I'm loving it. The people who made Until Dawn are the same ones who made The Quarry?

As a horror game I find Until Dawn miles above the Quarry. I agree with the characters being more special and more indepth in the Quarry but the ending just feels way too lazy. And bro the shitheads are scared of water just take a rowboat what? I would also like to add that when considering how good the horror is in the game, you shouldnt just base it on jumpscare. The atmosphere and mystery make a very huge part of why the game is scary

The Quarry wasn't bad (except maybe after 10+ times due to failed trophy hunting), but Until Dawn is just 100000 times better. I think Quarry would be better if it tried to be less like Until Dawn and more like its own game. Now it has constant references to UD, like the zipline, some character surprisingly attacked (Jessica/Nick) etc. The story is also very weak, and it's pushed to the player's face in a long af cutscene during the prison chapter, unlike in UD where you have to count 1+1 yourself. The werewolves were also too similar to the wendigos, and their backstory was just dumb (something doesn't turn into an urban legend in 6 years). It lacked the kind of twist that UD had with Josh being the psycho, but there being another, real threat. I think what annoyed me the most was that there was even less playing than in UD, and the QTEs and other mechanics were ridiculously easy. The characters can't talk when you're playing, it always has to trigger a cutscene. They also can't even look at a clue when you're playing, that triggers a cutscene too. UD didn't need "skip cutscene" button that much even after hundreds of hours of playing, but Quarry does. Then the QTEs and other mechanics. They're basically impossible to fail by accident. The screen slows down before a QTE comes, which gives you time to prepare. The other mechanics aren't any better, "don't breathe" is, again, ridiculously easy (especially compared to don't move) and you don't even need to button smash when that mechanic comes, just press the button lazily till it ends. The things I enjoyed in Quarry were the more complicated butterfly effects (though those did draw lines between things that had nothing to do with each other, but anyway) and smaller choices that would affect them. And longer too, for example, the bunny choice in Chapter 1 affects what happens in Chapter 10. TLDR: too similar to Until Dawn, bad story, ridiculously easy mechanics, too much cutscene.

I still love until dawn more but the quarry is also really good

Until dawn hands down😂 for me it’s all about the characters and I guess the quarry’s cast was just so much more multidimensional and it was a lot more like the anthology games, plus it didn’t have a fake out plot twist❤

The Quarry was much more dynamic as far as choices and consequences go. I enjoyed how there was advantages to being bitten or not. Obviously you play the game with the sense of; oh, being a werewolf is bad, avoid at all costs. But there comes a point in the game where you realize that being infected in a certain situation could have saved you. It makes 'perfect' runs that much harder because you have to infect certain people at certain times AND purposefully fail certain quick time events or do things you would never do UNLESS you already have future knowledge of plot points. It's great, truly one of the best choice games.

I love the Quarry very much, but Until Dawn was way better in my experience. The horror and the jumpscares in Until Dawn felt really good and actually scared me on my first playthrough. The Quarry also felt very similar to Until Dawn in some ways, but i didn’t hate it at all. Until Dawn was just something that did better on horror and crazy enough, i think Until Dawn has much better reaction and facial expressions than The Quarry

The Quarry's characters are so easy to like that it kind of takes the fun out of it. In Until Dawn most of the cast is not that sympathetic and it adds gravitas imo

I think Until Dawns is the better game, but I would rather play The Quarry between the two if that makes sense.

Something that the quarry did so much better than until dawn was the tarot cards the quarry’s versions of the totems the tarot cards really helped me out now I didn’t find or get to see all of them you can find three tarot cards in the same chapter and only get to see one which sucks but besides that it’s the only complaint these things were useful and helped me make good decisions like it helped me save Emma on the island. Unlike the totems in until dawn which were fuckin useless half of them just misleads you and the other half just shows you random shit that can happen like a character dying it doesn’t tell you what leads to them dying there or give you a hint to prevent it just mike getting burnt to a crisp or Matt falling of a cliff Nothing more now you’ll get to these situations like Matt on the cliff and belike oh shit Matt can die here better be careful like that isn’t something the player doesn’t already know and I don’t know why they felt the need to show random snippets of cutscenes that helps you in no way but they do. There was only one totem that helped me in any way and that was a guidance totem that told me to give Matt the flare gun if I didn’t he would have died in my play trough that was the only useful totem I found.

They simply went downhill since Until Dawn and even though that's a popular opinion in the masses, among the Supermassive fanbase people tend to disagree for some reason. I have probably watched too many youtubers and streamers play Until Dawn fully since the game came out in 2015. UD is like 8 years old now! First of all, Until Dawn was funded by Sony to be an exclusive which really added to the quality of the game. And I've followed Supermassive since they were making Start The Party for the PS3 lol so them coming out with a classic horror experience like Until Dawn as their first horror game was crazy.

The Quarry I liked better as far as story goes. It picked up a little quicker then Until Dawn. Until Dawn’s atmosphere and jump scares are a bit better then The Quarry in my opinion. Both good games though, but I’m more story driven so I got to go with The Quarry as my more preferred.

I love The Quarry, I have every thropy and I'm still trying out different options and endings. Until Dawn was good, I did like playing, however I have only played once and that's enough for me. The Quarry has so much humour and the characters are so likeable in their own little ways 😊 which I felt Until Dawn lacked and the women in that game are so unbelievably whiney 😖

I think Until Dawn is more exciting and faster, but all the characters in Until Dawn are assholes. I couldn't get too attached to the game because I didn't like the characters. The Quarry has more interesting characters and its story moves slower. I don't know, for me they are equal...

The Quarry was too expensive in my country at least, so I watched streamers play it. If it wasn't for the group friendship, the game would be a lot boring. Kind of like the water part in beyond two souls, the part where you try to find a car piece or whatever was extremely boring and dull. And the choices you make in the game don't really feel like they have an impact. Good game at best but not better than Until Dawn

I don't think I will ever understand the Ashley hate everyone has for this character. Mike literally is the one who threatens Emily with the gun and he's the one who would blow her brains out as an option but yet yall love him anyway and look pass his part in harming Emily? But yall despise Ashley who didn't kick her out or even say get rid of her she just doesn't want Emily close to her because shes afraid that Emily was infected and might turn like everyone else was. Ashley is honestly my favorite female character out of all 4 of the women in until dawn. Emily is coniving and she stays that way through out the whole game she demeans Matt every chance she gets up until she falls off the cliff how is she liked at all?
