Great setup. Hobie’s are out of my price range but I really love how these pro anglers are designed. Love the horizontal rod storage and storage bin on the floor.

Great set up brother!!!! Would be interested in hearing your thoughts about the overall maneuverability of the 360 if you have it. I've read where it's big and doesn't turn that well. I'm not buying that with the 360 drive, but it's what i have been reading. I own a pedal drive ocean kayak, and it's a great starter kayak. Will be looking at the hobie pro 12 and 14, just not sure which one.

Awesome setup Jay👍 Just a heads up on your pfd from someone who has has to pop one: Use it as a spare and get a NRS Chinook or something else with a high back. After my capsize I would never go back to a ln inflatable. Just mho I hope I don't get flames in the comments 🤣

The great thing about the NRS Otto Matik is that it will automatically deploy when submerged in the water.

Are the rods and reels secure in the sleeves to leave in place while traveling to your local lake?

Jay curious on if you could describe the stability a little. I'm a big guy 6'0 - 330lbs and looking to get into pedal kayak fishing. Time will be split 50-50 between inland lakes and saltwater lagoons. The occasional trip will venture out into jetty inlet areas when the conditions are manageable. Any insight would be appreciated. I highly reccomend the rod sleeves and Cal Coast Fishing Bait sacks for your lures. Those two components will really help you store more rods in the rod tubes, safely.

I’m curious if you transport your kayak with the rods laying vertically in the holders? I noticed you’re not using the Hobie rod holders that attach to the H-Rail to keep them secured with the bungees. I ask cause I’ve thought about doing away with mine but I’m kinda worried that a rod could come out of the kayak during transport...

Yeah I don't use them. I just keep my rods laying down horizontally in the rod tubes. traveled thousands of miles with them that way and had no issues.

How did you mount the track on the starboard side H rail? All my accessory's are yak attack trax and my new Hobie does not have a lot of current options.

Hey Derek, the mount is a Ram Mounts H-Rail accessory. Hobie and Ram Mounts both make a ton of H-Rail accessories. I would Check the Hobie and Ram mounts website for more.

Nice setup! I currently have a Bonafide SS127 which I love but I'm thinking of upgrading to a Pro Angler. Some of the launches I go to can be tricky and being able to carry my Bonafide short distances helps a lot. Can you pick up the Pro Angler 14 by yourself from the side and carry it short distances? I know it has some weight to it, just curious if you have attempted to pick it up. Thanks!

You can pick it up, but I wouldn't want to carry it very far. I have walked it a few hundred yards before with the wheel cart. The wheel cart makes it very easy to walk long distances even fully loaded.

@@JayWallenFishing Thanks for the response. I also have a cart which I use almost every time I go wheeling it down to the launch. However one of the launches has a floating dock and if I was able to lift up the PA 14 and place it in the launch it would be a lot easier. I'm sure I could do it, but like you said it's not a kayak you can carry very far. Thanks!

Is there a reason besides price you opted to go with the regular PA vs 360?

I love the classic PA-14, but I will have a PA-14 360 in the garage next month. The maneuverability of the 360 is insane and a must have for a tournament guy who fishes a lot of tight quarters. I also wanted to let all the kinks with a new boat get worked out before I picked one up. From my understanding there have some improvements on components of the 360 and I think I'm ready to get one now. You really can't go wrong with the PA-14 or the 360.

How do you put your wheels on when you’re getting off the water with the kayak fully loaded like that

I just lift the boat on its side a bit and slide the wheels in, its pretty easy even when fully loaded.

No sir, been in a Hobie PA-14 for almost 7 years now and (knock on wood) never flipped it or fell out.
