I am an engineer. May I suggest that you build the hardtop and the davids together as two long sides can be extended to easily carry the dinghy. One of the advantages is that you distribute the load on the boat. A david alone carries pretty high loads on the boat due to torsion around the mounting plates. I am sure your boat cannot handle this as it is a standard production boat. If you need help on how to do and design it, let me know. I'll be happy to assist you.

You are correct, too build a design mock up it would be better to use foam core and hot glue gun

don;t forget that anything you add that makes the boat longer in length, even if it overhangs at the stern will cost you more in ports/marina's when docking.

Wow. Another great video. Glad to see you're both doing well. Lumber frame and poly to cordon off your section from others dust and reduce your fiberglass dust from difusing throughout the rest of the place? You probably have it under control already. Bench for paperwork and supplies. The first 20 minutes of the epic adventure was great. I'll keep going back for more, and it will take a month, but it's fantastic so far, and I've been following for a long while. I'm never disappointed. Love the knowledge you gain and pass on to us LandLubbers. One day....one day.... Thanks very much.

Very excited for you guys! Nothing like “home” improvement projects right? 😂. Glad you were able to get the good masks this time around. Last time around was during Covid if I recall. Regarding Penny & Dingo’s paws…there are some really wonderful paw balms out now. I found that the ones made with beeswax are the best. Might be handy to have on the boat anyway as a 🐾🐾 first aid item.

Hello, happy new year, you may be going to do it anyway but a couple of thoughts, make a mould so the side stays are the same, and make a giant tent with a frame and cover with ‘Poly-mask’ it’s what is used in paint spraying to mask up. It’s really light and is cheap it will stop ‘imported dust, contain your dust and allow you to control the air temp when curing. 😄👍🇬🇧

Yes, we haven't decided one way or the other yet. We currently have a window but we almost always look around the side anyway, so we're thinking we might want to use all available space for solar.

Peal ply is not hard. You can do it! Be Sure let that vacuum do its job. When I have used, fiberglass with carbon fiber, we cut out all the pieces first, and laid them in order so when we were laying them down in the epoxy, there was no question as to what was next. Best of luck I love watching you guys work you pretty amazing for amateur boat rebuilders. ❤

Love your passion and let's attitude. Have you considered the wind variable? What I mean is the wind resistance crated by the wide surface vs. the poles that are normally used. During normal, mild, or lite conditions, I see no challenge. However, as you've learned, it's the heavy storm conditions one needs to prepare for. Just thinking. You guys are doing fantastic work and a great inspiration. 😊

Happy to see you start the project. Yes extend because hoisting a dingy it starts in the water and it’s a pain if your Davies are too short. It’s a lot of work, but well worth it. Make sure you make windows to see your sails. Or better small hatches. We had trouble getting our Bimini roof through the marina gate.. check if you have any hinders to reach the boat. Love seeing your progress.
