Me thinking about upcoming LOTR projects: I have no memory of this place

So you said "we'll see if Amazon listened to the criticisms" regarding Rings of Power. I don't think it will make any difference if they adjust things for season 2. They've given us nothing to love about season 1, not even the characters, so they have nothing worthwhile to build off of. The only solution that could feasibly make for a decent show is a complete restart from scratch of the series.

Rings of Power season 2 can have a fate worse than Numenor for all I care. I'm curious about War of the Rohirrim though. I would love the whole movie having pre-Rohan men only speak anglo-saxon but that's not terribly likely

I honestly didn't notice that a year has passed since the Show Which Should not be Named began. It still feels too soon for it to come back. At the time, two years until next season felt like a long time. Now, it's much too short

I'm looking forward to The War Of The Rohirrim for sure. ROP of Power? forget it. Amazon has not learned it's lesson and simply doesn't care. They're using Tolkien's secondary world for their own agenda. It's basically their bizarro version of the Second Age events of a counterfeit Arda that is not recognizable to us Tolkien readers. To be honest I hope the series is cancelled maybe after season 3.

Also Part of me is kind of hoping that War of the Rohirrim gets an Extended cut and Appendices. But it hasn't even come out yet. But the one thing I hope for the most is that WB don't write it off for taxes.

I really wish for a Silmarillion movie series.

since i didnt see another comment mention it, im hopeful that i will be able to be excited about Tales of the Shire. I have many ideas of what it could be but i mainly hope it just captures Tolkien's idea of what hobbits are, i think it will be satisifying so long as they get that alone

All we can really hope for is the utter failure of Rings of Power. If Amazon loses enough money, maybe they will finally stop modernizing everything and ignoring actual source material.

Moria - Through the Doors of Durin a major supplement for The One Ring RPG should be coming out towards the end of the year. The One Ring RPG is a fantastic adaptation and well worth covering.

War of the Rohirrim looks like it could be really good! I hope they do it justice! 😅 I heard a few months back that there is a Lego LOTR movie coming out in 2025 I think, not sure if that’s fact or rumor though.

No tabletop game updates? Free League should be releasing their Moria expansions this year for both The One Ring and The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying (5E). The TOR expansion is titled: Moria -- Through the Doors of Durin. The 5E conversion is called: Moria -- Shadow of Khazad-dûm. Neither is available for pre-order yet; a release date is yet to be announced.

As someone who got into Tolkiens legendarium through adaptations and eventually scholaring the books I can stand by the readers for a good adaptation

Also, the Moria: Through the Doors of Durin expansion for the ttrpg The One Ring should come out this year sometime.

Would be cool if they released an hd version of the EA games. Two towers and return of the king. Those games were so good. Would also like to see a spin off show of Tauriel. Think that would of been better than the rings of power.

I share your enthusiasm for LOTRO, as it has been my favorite and initial major MMORPG since 2007. Unfortunately, for me, it has gradually lost some of its MMORPG essence due to numerous weird, half done systems, LOTRO store, and other elements that personally deter me when seeking an immersive mmo-ROLE PLAYING GAME experience. Nevertheless, the retail version of LOTRO remains an outstanding Middle-Earth exploration game with an awesome cosy community. With this said I am particularly excited about the upcoming Echoes of Angmar in 2024. This presents a dream come true, allowing me to relive and explore the dangerous Eriador, reminiscent of my experiences in 2007. Regrettably, it is a private server, but it currently stands as the best alternative available. Cheers for your channel and I hope to see you in Middle-Earth!

If Rings of Power was my first contact with Tolkien's World, I would think it's the most boring and generic fantasy garbage ever made. Lucky for me Jackson's Movies put me on the path of discovering this amazing world. No matter how many billions of dollars Amazon decides to chuck at it, it will suck if the show writers don't have a clue of what makes Tolkien's works so endearing and mesmerizing in the first place.

I’d prefer they make nothing if they are not going to treat whatever they create with the same amount of care that was put into the original LOTR films. Because I still have the original movies, “extended” by the way. (The proper way to watch those films, best trilogy ever made) the original games and even the hobbit films that even though I don’t think those movies are good, they get a lot of things wrong to squeeze out another movie. Because money. And I also have the ranking bass hobbit film and return of the king. And of course all the books. I’m content with that. I don’t need new stuff. Especially if it’s at best mediocre and at worst treat Tolkien’s work with such disrespect.

Many and perhaps most films, TV series etc have for some time focussed more on so called diversity and updating (supposedly making a story more relevant to current audiences) than on entertainment. I have a growing list of programmes and genres that I no longer watch. Rings of power was on the edge of keeping me watching.

Don't even know if I'm going to bother with season 2. Maybe I'll put it on while cleaning me house or something

Rings of Power is an expensive loss. I won't watch the show. I'll just catch the reviews because the show has the worst writing. Gil-Galad is an arrogant king, not like the elf of the Noldar. Numenor will be a let down and the rise of Gondor will be a joke. Time of the fans to take back LOTR. Write your own story. 2nd age, 3rd age, 4th age, pick an Era and make a story.

Rings of Power season one was awful. No reason to think season two will not also be downright awful.

I guess we will know everything about RoP S2 by watching its 1st episode. I am expecting a disaster. On the other side, by following the news of WotR, I am enthusiastic and expecting a masterpiece.

The only thing that worries me about War of the Rohirrim is an article I read that said the story revolves around Helm's daughter and views the war from her perspective. Normally this concept wouldn't bother me as there have been many great female-centered stories. After the ROP debacle however, I'm worried that this will be just one more piece of activist crapola.

I look forward to continuing my boycott of Rings of Power. May the 2nd season fail even more than the 1st season to send a clear message that we want well intentioned movies and series that would make Tolkien proud.

I won't even touch RoP. That's a lost cause. If the show runners had at least publicly admitted their mistakes and promised to try and do better in s2 rather than just blaming fans, maybe. But that hasn't happened, showing me they've learned nothing. It's a lost cause there. As to War of the Rohirrim, sigh. I dunno. Philipa Boyens, the head of the project, has taken some heat about this being another woke interpretation of Tolkien as the story focuses on Helm's unknown/unnamed daughter. Her quote, and I'm going on memory here, "They all died! Helm, his sons, they all died so his daughter was the only one we could tell the story from." Um. But those of us familiar with the appendices know that's utter bull. Helm's nephew, Fréaláf Hildeson on his sister’s side, WHO IS NAMED (as opposed to the weird greek name they've given to Helm's daughter... Hera??), successfully executed an attack to regain Edoras. And it was that nephew, Fréaláf Hildeson, who killed the Dunlending leader, Wulf, and persuaded Gondor to aid him as he lead the Rohirrim to drive Dunlendings back across the River Isen. Then, Fréaláf and his men successfully blockaded Isengard into surrender. It was Fréaláf who was named king of Rohirrim. So why not make HIM the main protagonist of the story? And I don’t get how Boyens came up with the name “Hera”. It’s a Greek name! And Tolkien was inspired by Anglo-Saxon culture when he wrote these stories and as a linguist; he chose all of his words and names with great care to make Middle-earth feel like a real, cohesive place. Boyens should KNOW better! At the end of the day, my hope is that the story is told through Hera (stupid name... god I hope they change that) witnessing Fréaláf’s actions. and ok, she fights by his side. That's fine. Because in today's cinema we can't have women and children hiding away while men fight against pseudo capable bad-guys.

RoP was sooooo unbelievably bad. It was almost like they set out to fail trying to one up the morons who trashed the Witcher. A truly epic failure.

I wasn't aware the War of the Rohirrim was going to be an anime. I'm not a fan of anime, so that is very disappointing to me.

After the absolute debacle of the Hobbit trilogy and Rings of Power, I don't expect the Rohirrim story to be anything worth watching. And if they try remaking the film trilogy I may die of a broken heart.

I never watch reviews of ROP anymore. ROP is manifestly not Tolkien, not Middle-earth, and is nothing more than another feminist attack on Tolkien fans. Any review that treats it being somehow Tolkien related gets a major blot on their reputation as far as I am concerned.

Tolkien’s birthday was a great opportunity for amazon to announce they were cancelling the rings of power and would make a better show from scratch that would be more true to Tolkien’s works. But nah. They will continue producing garbage !

I'm kinda tired of all these series/movies/games with titles/subtitles "The Lord of The Rings3. I mean, LOTR technically refers to a very specific story told in the late Third Age. A show/game taking place before or after that and telling a different story should NEVER be called "The Lord of the Rings", no matter how good it might be.

Oh ENOUGH with the animated adaptations already...
