Thank you very much for your review, Phil. It was clear, concise and a very comprehensive review. You touched on the questions that I had about the product. Based on what you said and despite the name of the product, it doesn't restore hair, but does help one maintain the hair they have, so the sooner you start using it the better. That was an extremely helpful statement. I did see another video from a doctor that does hair restoration surgery, who basically said the same thing as you. Obviously, he says the best way to restore hair is transplant surgery, but also promotes using the iRestore helmet to keep your new hair healthy. Thanks again for your video.

Your hair looks amazing!!! And what I love is that one does not have to use chemicals like minoxidil for hair growth. With minoxidil one has to keep on using it and using it or your hair will fall out if you don’t use it continuously. With the medical device you have only once to pay once for it!! Also, I don’t know how many people know about this but if a cat should lick minoxidil it is fatal. And if a dog should accidentally lick it they will also get so so sick!!

Thank you! I've been happy with it thus far and am continuing to use it. I think I may have hit a "plateau" with this device for what it can do for me, so for me, if I want to see any further improvement beyond maintenance at this point, I'll have to add other treatments to my regimen. I'm not there quite yet, so it still gives me a bit of time to research what I feel best suits my needs and preferences.

Hey so question so I use clay gel to do my hair cuz when I wake up my hair is very rough and Nappy and so when using this product what should I do about that because my job requires me to always look presentable and if I let my hair with no product or clay gel on my hair is really hard to work with plus you know like now I am decreasing the times I wash my hair a week so I only do it three times a week and I have pretty bad dandruff so could you also enlighten me what I should do
@ReviewedByPhil

But that's fine. You can use the helmet right after you wash your hair before you put any product in it. Since the treatment is every other day, 3 days a week is adequate. What sort of shampoo are you using? For dandruff Head & Shoulders and Selsun Blue are good options.

Hey there. It sounds like you're very early on for your hair loss so for treatments like LLLT which is meant to stop/slow the progression and rejuvenate your hair, the sooner you start, the better results you'll have long term because you get to keep your hair rather than try to grow it back after the fact. As long as you have hair on your head, I'd say it's not too late to start doing something about it!

@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, he might benefit from this device. I don't have personal experience since I haven't had a hair transplant, but I have seen others who have reported good results using the helmet after having a hair transplant. Here is what iRestore says in their FAQ on the topic: "Hair transplant surgeons we work with have told us that low-level light therapy actually helps hair loss sufferers maintain results after hair treatment procedures. Genetic hair loss is a progressive condition, so this may lead to newly transplanted hairs thinning and falling off. Many transplant surgeons have reported that their patients have seen great success using laser therapy after transplants to help to reduce further hair loss, accelerate recovery time, and maximize results from the expensive procedures." While they don't cite regrowth explicitly, the emphasis is on maintenance and improving results of the surgery.

Thx for the review, are you using the shampoo that they provide? If so it might give you a a false sense that your hair is healthier or stronger due to hair volume added by the shampoo. I wonder if that is the real reason why most reviews are positive on the product. It does look like at least it prevented your hair from falling althogh it is too early to tell imo.

Yes, I did use the shampoo, supplement, and serum for a period of time. I'm not using those products now though, and it seems that I've hit a plateau in terms of visual improvement of hair volume. Julia Rose not much research has been done about the overuse of lasers for hair growth, but since lasers are used for hair removal, perhaps you do not want to over-do it by leaving the device on longer than directed or using more often than directed, but do make sure to use as directed as research shows that not using it enough will probably result in not getting hair growth/re-growth. best results are gotten when used with a dht-blocking shampoo and hair-growth supplement like Nutrifol

@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 6 жыл бұрын
The device comes with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty against device defects. The device must be registered on the website after purchase at www.irestorelaser.com/warranty. Under certain conditions approved by Freedom laser Therapy, the warranty may be extended beyond the 1-year period. You do not need to use the iRestore Hair Growth Shampoo which is supposed to promote a healthy scalp and strengthen hair growth. The oral supplement is not a requirement to use the device, although in my experience, when using both those products plus the hair serum, I did see good results over the first 6 months, starting at around month 3. I have since stopped using the additional products without much loss of progress or regression.

Hm, no I haven't had any adverse side effects. The most I feel different is that my head feels a little bit warm after each session. But it is not painful nor does it cause discomfort. Are you using any other kind of treatment in addition to the LLLT (e.g. minoxidil, finasteride, DHT blockers etc.)? Another possibility is that you could have photo-sensitivity to the specific wavelengths emitted, called photophobia, though this usually requires you to see the light with your eyes and not simply be exposed to it topically. Perhaps the minimal light bleeding around the helmet is enough to trigger a response though, I'm not sure. According to this article: www.aao.org/eyenet/article/photophobia-looking-causes-solutions?novemberdecember-2005 photophobia is more common in folks who experience migraines regularly and red or blue light causes more discomfort.

In terms of oral supplements, I didn't use finasteride, however, for several months I was taking the DHT blocker oral supplement offered by iRestore; both were part of their Max Growth Bundle which I tried for 3 months, but I didn't continue their use after I started seeing results and for the most part I think they're not required for upkeep/maintenance, but they were probably helpful for speeding up the timeline to see results.

@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 4 жыл бұрын
Truth be told, for me it hasn't. Perhaps my hairline had receded too long ago, and the follicles were simply dead. For folks who are just beginning to see their hairlines recede and may still have dormant but living follicles in that area, it has a better chance of reactivating them.

@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 5 жыл бұрын
I got mine from Amazon, but they run better promotions regularly on their website if you want to save a little money: bit.ly/2z9Zd6t [Affiliate Product Link] For example, I think they still provide coupon codes for signing up for their mailing list and there's often holiday specials that bundle or discount their other supplemental products. I did use their "fast hair growth bundle" when I started using the helmet because it was included for free (serum, oral supplement, and shampoo), but after I ran out of those I continued to use the device without them and felt the results were pretty similar. Maybe they helped me see the results faster, as I've heard some folks say it took longer than 3 months for them to see any changes, but I can't go back and do a control experiment, so I guess it's hard to say. I have not taken any other drugs or prescriptions to treat my hair loss, prior to or during my treatment with the helmet. I'm actually still using it every other day for maintenance and am satisfied with the current state of my hair.

Did you ever get dizziness or headaches from using this? I used the irestore for almost 1.5 months now. I started getting dizzy 1 week after I started using. I thought it was a coincidence, but I have been dizzy everyday for 5-6 weeks now (while using the Irestore every other day). My doctor and ENT don't know what's wrong. I think maybe it is related to the irestore. Did you ever experience anything like this?
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 3 жыл бұрын
Hm, personally I have not, however, I do know that some research suggests that some folks may be sensitive to certain wavelengths of visible light; it's possible that the incidental amount of red light picked up by your eyes is causing you to have headaches. You may want to try using the device while wearing an eye mask and see if this alleviates the problem. If so, then you may have a red light sensitivity.

Do you know how Capillus compares to iRestore? It seems capillus is all lasers, while irestore is a mix of LED and laser. This seems to be the major factor for Capillus being more expensive. But not sure of it will change the results?
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 4 жыл бұрын
Hm, I'm not sure as I haven't tried the Capillus myself, but I hear good things from some others on here that have said they've tried it with success. There's mixed results from studies on hair growth devices using only lasers or a mix of lasers and LEDs. I think whether or not the results are "better" depend on the individual and how they respond to treatment. Some folks respond better to lasers only and others will see some benefit from the LEDs, but it's hard to determine that in advance since, still others, don't respond to LLLT treatment at all. I think the only way to know for sure would be if someone tried both types of therapies and were able to compare their results, but again that would be affected by the order in which they tested the devices and it would probably be prohibitively expensive for most folks. Sorry I don't have better insight on the topic, but I just don't have the first-hand experience to report anything definitively.

@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! In terms of tips and tricks, I would say the most important thing is to be consistent. The therapy works best when used used regularly without extended or sporadic breaks between consistent use. And remember it's a long and sometimes slow process to rejuvenate hair, so I think a lot of folks get discouraged or give up because they haven't achieved instant results. The other tip that I can offer is for better light penetration, use the device on towel-dried hair after a shower. Damp hair tends to clump a bit allowing for better light penetration to the scalp and hair follicles which is essentially what gets stimulated by the light, not the hair itself. In terms of placement, if you're worried about hair line coverage, you can place it forward enough on your head just until the light is out of view when you hold your head still and look up. If you can see a lot of the light, then it's probably too low on your forehead. You want the light on your scalp, not in your eyes. Good luck with it, and I hope you see good results and benefit from using the device!

@@ReviewedByPhil Thanks for the reply. I talked with Irestore support before and they said don't use it on wet hair because it's electrical. Do you use any special shampoos or conditioners, hair products, supplements, or other stuff like scalp massage?
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 3 жыл бұрын
@@TerabyteHero Right, it shouldn't be wet. Towel-dry just means that when you touch your hair you can feel it's not completely dry, but your hand should not be able to pick up any moisture either. I do use the iRestore shampoo and conditioner because I like that they're light and don't dry out my hair too much. For the first 6 months with the helmet I used their hair serum, twice a day, which you massage into your scalp, and I also tried their oral supplement but I did not continue to use them after 6-months due to cost. I didn't see a ton of difference between using the serum and not, and you can find similar dietary supplements that contain the same active ingredient at most pharmacies in the vitamin aisle.

I have been using the device for 6 months. somehow the 2nd shedding broke out and it's still ongoing. shedding like more than 200 per day? Did you experience that Phil.
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 4 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I didn't experience a second round of shedding during my initial 6 months of using the device. Mine subsided after about 2 months and was normal/minimal after that point. I did notice that if I was inconsistent about using the device i.e. skipping some days or a week, that when I started the treatments backup, there was a short period of shedding, but none so much as the first few months as using the device. There may be other factors influencing the resurgence of shedding too like a change in diet, life style, sleep, stress, nutrition, health, etc. so it's hard to narrow something like that down to one thing. One thing that I think did help me with reducing shedding was taking supplements that block DHT, but it's not an instant thing and you have to build up the resistance over time. You also lose that effect if you stop taking it, so it's not recommended to cycle on and off DHT blockers frequently.

Is this expected? Should I continue? Again thanks for replying. You are doing great.

Hi, thanks for your question. I don't have a huge sample of experiences to draw from other than my own and a handful of folks who've commented on my videos, so your best bet for clarification and concerns would be to reach out to iRestore for guidance. They've got a great live chat feature on their site or you can email them. Personally, I experienced increased shedding twice. The first time when I first started using LLLT with this helmet, and the second time after about 3 years when I switched from maintenance treatments back to regular treatments with a more powerful laser helmet. So I guess it's possible to experience shedding more than once, though I'm not sure how "typical" this is; also I assumed it only happened to me because there was a gap of less frequent sessions that happened immediately preceding the second shedding period. From what I understand, LLLT is the kind of treatment that requires strict upkeep. It's like Rogain, if you stop using it, your results regress.

@@ReviewedByPhil Well thanks for replying. I did contact Irestore they told me keep it on for atleast 6 months. But the way hair was shedding it doesn't look like I will use it till 6 months. I will keep it up for another 1 month or 2. If it doesn't work. Then I guess it's not for me. Also how long before the lost hair filled in ?

i am experiencing exactly the same thing. In the first 2.5 months of usage, I saw a lot of very thin dark coloured hair grow. Today marks exactly three months for me and in the last week and this week, I experienced more shedding. The thin hair are still there. I have generally made peace with my hair loss so I will continue using for 6 months at least. If I gain something, it is a bonus, if not, it is also ok.

The instructions recommend not using the device more often than every other day. Definitely not every day as the over-stimulation can be stressful for your hair and scalp. For the first 6 months I used the device, I was very committed to the every other day schedule. After about a year of use, now sometimes I will go 2-3 days without using it and just use it a few times a week for maintenance of results. If I go on vacation, I usually won't have a chance to use it for 1-2 weeks. If that's the case, I go back to using it every other day for a couple weeks after returning from my travels.

Have you tried using it every day? I know you're not "supposed to", but have you tried it? Since it seems like you are suggesting you've reached a plateau and it seems to not be giving you further improvements, only maintenance, it sounds like 2-3 times a week isn't enough for you anymore. Instead of jumping straight to 7 days a week, you could do 4.. or 5.

@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 4 жыл бұрын
The first few months you use the helmet you will see increased shedding. This is most folks' typical experience with using LLLT for the first time (I explain this is earlier episodes of this series). Usually this stops after a couple months, but the timing is different for everyone. The recommendation is to go through 6-months of sessions in order to see visible results, but it's normal in the beginning for more hair to fall out; it's just part of the process.

It depends on whether or not your hair, skin, and body are responding to the treatment. Studies have shown that LLLT is *not* effective for everyone so some people will end up using the device but find that their hair loss continues as before with no improvement. My suggestion would be to stick with the treatment for another few months, as the warranty period is 12 months. The helmet won't make your hair loss worse, but if it's working you should see results by the 6th month. If you are seeing no improvements, it's possible that the device won't work for you. Be sure to reach out to iRestore, if this is the case, and ask for your full refund within the 12 month guarantee.

When I talked to the rep over at iRestore during my research phase, they did confirm that if I were to stop using the device that any gains in hair quality and volume would be lost over time. So, like Rogaine, Propecia, or any of the other hair rejuvenators (excepting transplants) the gains are not permanent and only good for as long as you continue the treatment. Short term pauses like a couple weeks don't seem to make an appreciable difference but I have not gone a long period of time (over 2 weeks) without returning to a regular every other day schedule.

Why do you lose all the progress if you stop using the device? People said the hair sheds initially supposedly so stronger, healthier hair can grow, but if you stop using it, those hairs will fall back out? So it doesn't actually make the hair healthier?
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 3 жыл бұрын
I think it has to do with how your scalp responds to the treatment. I believe one of the reasons the hair is able to grow back stronger is that the therapy dilates the hair follicle, but this effect is only temporary and the treatment must be used on a regular basis in order to retain this benefit. Once you stop using it, the hair follicle will eventually shrink again which is what causes the hair to fall out and eventually, without intervention, it will close permanently, preventing the hair from growing back.

Yes, I haven't been using anything other than the helmet and the shampoo. I think of LLLT more like a scalp treatment to maintain the health of the hair follicle more so than the hair itself, though I suppose they are closely related. It's the condition of the hair follicle that determines the quality and texture of the hair that grows from it and ultimately the longevity of the hair depends on whether or not the follicle stays active, shrinks, goes dormant, or scars over.

Go with the Grivamax laser way better it has 272 diodes and I restore only has 80 I think and u can see in the video it doesn't give full coverage u can c parts of his scalp not getting the laser. They do work I started with a hand held laser with 9 diodes and got results but of course I had to do sections and so days I did it for 5 hours also I paid $500 for the handheld at the time I got it about ten years and I used it about four years and stopped for six years and I didn't lose my results at all. My handheld still works but fuck that I just bought a Grivamax for $849 and I like it full coverage don't have to use my hand to do it. And I'm trying to grow hair where my widows peak can in where I used to have hair and the hand held made like peach fuzz grow there and a few nice thick dark hairs that weren't there before but when I stopped for six years those didn't even go away also the hair I had got stronger thicker and darker so now I'm going to see if I can grow it where my hair line receded to a widows peak like my dad's hair line that I hate and see if it will grow back because I had hair there before I just think that I couldn't get enough exposure to the laser for a long enough time and enough days in a row to make it come all the way back. Grivamax best one I have seen on the market right now. The yanuolaser has 272 diodes and looks like the Grivamax but I went with the Grivamax cause it's American company so easier for me to deal with but they might be the same thing. This is the best for home use u may find a better commercial one that the doctors use at bosely or something I seen those but they r in the several thousands range. They have known about these lasers for over 60-70 years but to get a shit laser it would have cost u 60 thousand back then. So it's gotten way cheaper and way better. It's gotten way cheaper and way better in the ten years since I bought my last one. But any laser will help the key if u want results use it alot the more the better..

Did it restore your hair completely?

@@andrewd5135 Some of it. I went through two of them. It regrew some where there was none and made my other hair that was there better. I did and do other things but it was mainly the laser. I need another one. I think I could burn through 20 of them just always use it. I use it way more than they say too. Like literally all day. It works for other things than hair. It was originally made for deep tissue healing.

Hi buddy. Are you still using it? And how is your progress now?

Hey there. I'm currently taking a break from this particular device and am using a different one in its place. I'm planning on publishing an update on the switch in the coming weeks! But generally, progress is good, and I'm still happy with my results so far.

ReviewedByPhil thanks for your response buddy. It’s been 4 months since I’m trying IRestore. I experienced severe hair fall at 2 months but I was persistent. I still don’t see any significant improvement but as you say, it is staying the same. No loss no gain kind of situation as of now. I’m also taking some supplements(not the irestore one) and also some home remedies. Hoping for the best and also will be waiting for your new updated video. Have already subscribed to your channel so will be waiting to see your new video as soon as it comes🙌🏻
