Subscribed. I have a 2002 suburban Z71 with over 320k miles on the Odometer. Just had to replace the bearings in the rear end. Same color as yours just with patina lol. Big Bertha is her name and she's made many trips from Michigan to Georgia. Half of them pulling a car on a car hauler. I have the tick but only if I hit the gas on initial start up. Give it a couple of minutes and she's ready for whatever. One common issue that I guessed hasnt happened to you is the plastic heater hose quick connect T. Mines went out last week but like I said earlier, Big Bertha has over 320k miles. Growing pains lol.

Thanks for the sub turshin! 320K and still going - I love it! I had someone else comment on the heater core T connections, so I have some in my Suburban just in case and when I replace all the coolant hoses, I will do the T's too. Thanks for this insight!

Bought my 02 used w 12k miles. Rear main seal getting done for $850 next week at 230k miles. Had the parts to do it myself but to difficult to do on the ground without a lift. Developed lifter tick at about 180k, living w it but will replace the engine if it goes before I do. Seen all the problems you've seen cept for the leaky sunroof cause I don't have one. Good job w the vids!

Thanks for the comment Hector. I look forward to getting to 230k too! Interesting on the timing of your tick development. I wonder when, on average it appears? Probably something that will remain a bit of a mystery!

ive got a 2001 chevy tahoe with the 5.3 v8. i have replaced the fan clutch and the valve cover gaskets even though when i got it it only had 158,000. It now has 160,758 and my right head gasket is leaking coolant and im gonna have a mechanic do both head gasket and the in take gasket replaced. so far my rear main seal is fine and so is my fuel pump. but i have had to replace the sending unit for the oil pressure because it was leaking oil.

As the owner of a 2005 Tahoe I think you severely underestimate how many things can go wrong with these vehicles. Still, I admire your confidence.

Thanks Kevin. I have experienced a few more issues, for sure. I am documenting all of it on my website: www.suburbancamping.com/

These vehicles are amazing and my 01 Suburban with 320k miles hasn't had any ball joints replaced and everything remains tight and functioning on suspension, too. The engine is the most amazing given it remains tight and there's no use of oil whatsoever, so no need to add any oil between oil changes - I love synthetic oil given it stays clean longer and requires less oil changes.

The lifter tick you can fix by putting a new oil pickup tube o ring
@SuburbanCamping

I should have addressed that when the rear main deal was fixed!

It isn't that bad, just drop the oil pan and its held in with one bolt!

Thanks Tanner. I have a 4WD so also have to drop the transfer case, but yes, still very doable.

Haha tell me about it. I am putting a new ATK 6.0L lower and a new 4l80e in my 2500. Going to do a bunch of extras to it while doing the engine and tranny.

I used ZR1 spark plugs and have never looked back after 400k. They're still in there. At that time they were ONLY $8 each. Lol.
