It diverts people away from many sellers' products as it only features certain sellers' products. Many established shops have reported dramatic drops in sales since gift mode was introduced

As a seller, my sales almost died right during roll out of gift mode. They were very strong before that. They've started coming back. However, I'm worried it will start to marginalize non gift type sellers.

I was very optimistic about a gifting mode. But.. It seems to be just another layer of obscurity to what we used to call ranking. I have yet to find any combination of question answers that will turn out my products, I am not a small seller. That doesn't mean it wont work out but I am no longer as optimistic. It may be self selecting for certain types and styles of products and or pictures as its presumably "AI". Who knows, so I will just keep improving and optimising as before.

I think visits is meaningless because at least half of that is probably sellers and etsy coaches and youtubers trying to figure it out and teach others about it. Sales would be a much more meaningful metric.

I feel it’s the same with Etsy Ads. “How comes I get so many clicks and no transactions?!” That’s because people like me accidentally click on an Ad just to snoop on the listing/shop 😅

I'm in UK and we used to see a Etsy ad on TV about once a year, now its one of the regular ads on one of our main channels, I think it's a good thing as not many uk people know what Etsy is, but I am now having to learn a new craft which I wanted to do 6 year ago when I started my Etsy shop but choose a popular trend at the time, then changed to a saturated category and have been doing OK, I'm happy with OK as it's a release outlet as I'm a carer to my partner and son, so I am happy to learn and make gifting items which should help compliment what I already sell, Time will tell

alot of those 6 million visits will be sellers. we need data on sales results due to use of the gift mode function

A lot is probably sellers trying to figure out how it works to make it have the best results for their own shop.

My guess is that these visits are mostly Etsy sellers trying out the new feature. Not necessarily intending to make a purchase. They should report how many sales resulted in these nearly 6 million visits.

But how did your products end up in the search? I have searched for my own products under gifts and they are nowhere to be found. I think my sales have dropped since this came on even though I have 50 items in my shop I don’t see them in any of their categories, nor do I see a way to actually get to them by the selections that are available, I am not happy with it

My target customer is the male who has no idea what to get a woman who exercises. So I thought SuperBowl was an amazing idea.

I believe they are only featuring certain products.. I released 17 new products the past month and everyone keeps favoriting and buying the same 3 different old products. Maybe because it looks super pretty I don't know...

No because Etsy algorithm pushes up the listings that sell pretty good. Not a new listings without any history of sales

still needs some time to collect more data, that being said...I think it's great Etsy is trying to bring in more customers (Ebay does hardly, if any, advertisement). Etsy now has found it's "niche" lol...gift giving.
