I've sold legitimate handmade decor on Etsy since 2012 without any problems whatsoever and maintained excellent customer service (5 star reviews). The past 2 years, I started getting customers who were not familiar with me, and the bad attitudes were a turn-off. Most said they had had such bad experiences with other Etsy sellers that they did not expect anything better from my shop. I highly suspect their problems were not with legit handmade shops because most of us "little guys" tend to prioritize personalized customer experiences. I closed my shop last month after 15 years to semi-retire from handmade selling. In my case, Etsy wasn't the cause. I have not had any problems, and my sales were steady and predictable. I do see a shift happening with customer attitude and expectation, and this is what would deter me from going back. It's not unusual to get a difficult customer here and there, but it started to become the norm especially in the past year. I don't necessarily blame the customers. People tend to react according to how they are treated. Just my two cents.

Don’t get why she sitting on KZfaq whingeing about it! She knows about copyright and branding and she was warned too! 🙄 No sympathy for her.

Honestly i am glad to see Etsy FINALLY start to take down sellers who break the rules. I especially feel zero sympathy for resellers and print on demand losers who cant be bothered to come up with original stuff and or blatantly violate copyright laws.

Etsy shut us down over a product that had been listed in our shop for over 3 years! Star seller - yet we were given no recourse or opportunity for reinstatement.

I started an Etsy store in November 2023 selling epoxy resin products that I make. My best seller was a skull with bullet casings in it. In December 2023, I sold over $5,000 worth and made about $1,000 profit. I became an Etsy Star Seller for my store SkullMill. Then, in early January 2024, my store was suspended with no warning or communication. I have attempted to restore the store through Etsy’s process but it is now 5 months later and my store appears to be dead. I think Etsy can be a great platform to reach buyers but I can never trust them with my business again. I was on the way to a nice store concept that could grow and make me a little money on the side. I shudder to think if my store had blown up and became a major income producer only to be closed by Etsy for no reason. Can’t make that mistake again and will create my own stores using Squarespace and my own domains, how can any seller trust Etsy at this point???? I’d love to have 5 minutes with Josh Silverman also. But I suspect he will forever hide behind the closed doors of Etsy.

Why do you think that's not possible. Many sellers are making that and more per month.

@@KC-ed1dj many sellers are making $10k a month. But, their thumbnail basically baits viewers into thinking she's already figured out the $10k niche..... This video has nothing to do with the thumbnail....that's my point.

Best thing would be to hire a hacker and hack Etsy in total and shut it down, than see how the CEO would feel about it...

I know this might sound in left field to some, but AI is taking over and doing things on constant algorithms and I think they are cashing in on it. Bots can run a store and pose as sellers. What a better place to teach a bot then on a platform where orginal ideas are made into products. I'm not saying this can't and hasn't been done by other humans but for the most part not in a epic sweep of everytime you upload your idea it's stolen...More to this behind the scene, I think.

I opened my shop 9:38 January 2024..After having spent the previous 5 months researching and deigning. At the point of April 1. I had about 125 listings. I had no sales, but was steadily climbing in views and visits. Then one day recently, I had half of my products deactivated over a three day time frame. I thought I would take time and reevaluate those products and key words etc before i relisted them. I am now down to very few views a day. So I went from a steadily growing # of views to zip. It proved to me that unless you have a very unique, in tremd, one or two "lucky products that happen to get seen somehow by a large # of people, that the larger number of listings, yhe more successful you will most likely be.

I'm paying for their "service." That also means, full HUMAN interaction from Customer Service, to general assistance and help with it all, and since this is the route they're going, then I'm out. I'm making more money on other platforms anyway. If anything, this is a prime example that Etsy simply doesn't care. P.S. If a company goes the route of using AI to replace the very qualities that kept human interaction, warmth, and unity, don't run away from the company...destroy it.

Thank you! I tested the cost of printing a design I made and it was MORE EXPENSIVE to buy a frame and print a poster than it was for the buyer to simply buy it pre-made from me. Not to mention, they buyer has to pay for the download.

Etsy told me that they struggle to imploy this restrictions and it be for only a single shop. Customers can reuse thank you coupons every single time they order. Coupon have their place in marketing but you cannot have a plan thats profitable if people are using these coupons whenever or however. Terms arent followed and my cpa told me to stop with the Etsy coupons and give promos for my website only.

I started POD in 2011 on Zazzle. Without KZfaq videos. I recently set up on Etsy and found it more difficult than I thought. I read the comment from jovanbruggen1206 and also believe a video for newbies would be valuable - especially how to select who to believe and not to believe online (which you have done). By the way I am 78 years old. I can't imagine how difficult it would be today for a newbie.

Selling on Etsy is trash! My story is similar to everyone else, I cannot get anyone to talk to me. My one sale was refunded because I “needed to verify seller info”. I submitted everything requested and they have not reviewed it. This was 5 months ago and multiple emails. I can’t close my account either cause I can’t get ahold of anyone to close it haha it’s a joke. I feel so scammed and violated. My heart goes out to all the sellers. Fix it Etsy not a cute look.

1. I wish we had more control over how much is spent per item for on site Etsy ads. 2.I also think it's unfair to apply off site ad fees to shippng fees. Especially when shipping cost more than the item itself or international orders. 3. I also wish there was a more direct way to appeal shipping label adjustments. Almost every adjustment I've had is illegitimate but if they provide a photo for proof i could easily point out they scanned the wrong package. For example I'll ship out a 6oz package in a 4x4x2 box. Weeks later I'll get notified they adjusted a label to priority mail medium flat rate. I pay the difference. Even a simple photo would prove either of our case. It has to match the tracking number on the label. I've lost so much money on this. Class action suit on this topic? I've contacted the support to USPS to appeal the adjustment via email, as requested. And never get proof from them, i would have to provide video or photo proof of my case. This process is flawed and wastes time for both of us. Since USPS photographs mail anyway, why can't they access it for claims like this? Frustrating because you don't get resolution or your money back.

I'm just starting my POD business and I'm avoiding ETSY like the plague. I'll try alternatives first. I just can't afford to lose so much time and work. I understand it's a big marketplace, but it's just too risky. The creators have been OUTRAGED since going public and it seems to be getting worse and worse and worse with no exchange of information. It looks like an opportunity for a new marketplace, more of a co-op. Etsy was cool when it was smaller and still had a heart for creators.

maybe the way to do that is to open a new platform with all the things you don’t think Etsy is and make a new platform❤
